Nothing much going on in this forum, so I thought I would share where I'm at.
The 88 is in a mess at the moment. The steering wheel is on the drivers seat, the head and intake in the trunk and the dash on the passanger seat. I am mid way through a project with multiple goals. The first goal to replace a bad headgasket, the 2nd to replace a bad brake booster and the 3rd to do a bit of weight loss. I'm doing it all at once, because with the head and dash out of the way, there is a bit more room to do the brake booster.
So far, I've yanked out the heater box, blower and all the venting, never to be returned to the car. I've pulled right about 40lbs from the dash area so far. If I can find the correct alternator bracket, I plan to pull the power steering too, for another 30-40lbs from the front.
Tomorrows goal is to remove the sound deadner behind the dash on the drivers side, install the brake booster and put the head back on. We'll see how much I actually get done.
Anyway, after getting the head and dash back on, I'll do a bit more weight loss. The power locks no longer work, so they'll be removed... along with the cruise control and maybe a few other nearly weightless parts. My hope is to remove about 100lbs and free some hp with no power steering to get me into the 11s territory this fall.
