A/C Gurus: Putting A/C Back ON A Fox

I know this is usually the opposite from the norm, but im thinking of putting A/C back on the car. I dont really use it much but now that I have the Hellion kit instead of the DIY turbo stuff I'd rather have it back on so the car will be more complete.

I got all my stuff back out of storage and I THINK I have everything. I'm going to have to get a new condensor becuase mine has a lot of flattened fins(was like this when I took it off the car, looks like something hit it off the road or something ) Anyways, finding one shouldnt be any trouble at all, my question is:

After I get everything back on the car and connected up, do I just get the system recharged and im ready to roll? Since this will be a fresh install will "recharging" the system be more complicated? I would have to have a dealer recharge the system correct? Also, will I have to do a R134 retrofit? Thanks

First of all when you took the compressor and other items off before did you cap everything, or are all the lines open? If you capped the lines, things will be better, if you didn't I would be suspect of the compressor as moisture and oil together cause the seals to corrode.

You will also need to get a new accumulator or dryer as some people call it. You can get it and the condenser locally or ackits.com is a good resource as well. An since everything is off and getting replaced I would convert it, as it will save you a lot of money in refrigerant cost.

As for the installation put the stuff back on but don't tighten the hoses down. Take it to your local AC shop tell them what you are doing and have them fully flush everything. Make sure they get a good vacuum down on the system so they can leak check it and have it charged. Should be good to go.

why put it back on if you don't use it? sounds like a lot of work and time to install something you don't use!! it wont bring up the value any either unless you live in warmer climate! hell i live in Canada and we have hot ass summers here and i ditched all that stuff along time ago! ill deal with the heat just give me more pony's and a lighter car ! I'm my opinion air in anything but a daily driver is useless!! especially in a fox body car!

Just do a search on an a/c delete and reverse the steps.
