i originally had my car dynoed a moth ago and it put down 236hp and 280ftlbs stock with the only alteration being a removed silencer. i put on a flowmaster a/t catback and mrt catted h pipe 2 weeks ago and went and had it dynoed last friday and put down 244hp and 289ft lbs. gain of 8hp and 9 ft lbs at peaks, up to 12 under the curve. heres my question, how much woud a/f ratio affect power, i was expecting a little more that 8 hp from an h pipe and catback. i didnt get a a/f on either dyno so i have nothing to compare, but how much of a power difference would there be from going from an af ratio of say 13:1 to 12:1? secondly i lost some gas mileage after the install, probably about 20 miles to a full tank with the same driving, how long would it take the comp to relearn the correct a/f or will it ever? do you guys think that the higher flow of this combination could richen it up that much?

Lean is mean. When you start to get into the 12.5 range your running too rich for a stock car.

Lean is mean , but you create heat. On a stock car( or minor bolt ons) you want to go leaner. If you are running a power adder(nitrous or blower) you run the car a little richer(more fuel) to keep the heat down in the cylinder. 12.1 might be ok for a blown car but is too rich for bolt ons and would make the car run slower.

When I dynoed my car(mustang dyno, with a load) with nitrous it ran great at 12.2 and higher(leaner). When I got below 12.1 (rich)the car started to blow black smoke and lost power.
