A Must Have!

Make one and let me know, I could likely make you some $$! The adjustability of this light to fit any hood with the nice foam arms so it wont scratch the paint is nice. Proper tool selection goes a long way and is well worth my hard earned $ imop.

Also My garage is full of flourecent bulbs but my hood blocks a large amount of the light. I have six 6ft 100w bulbs in my 2 car garage. This new light hits every nook and cranny in my bay. I still needed flashlights and the drop light to work the way I like to when I was only using the ceiling lighting. Not anymore though!

I will see what I can come up with! A few questions ...

- that looks like a 3 foot T8 ... is that correct?

- would a setup with 4 screw in CFLs spaced a foot apart be just as useful?

- or how about a setup with 4 mini spot lights that could be pointed anywhere you want?

Yes it is a T8, those are great ideas! My opinion on that would be yes, I think they would emit great light but how would you keep them from possibly breaking? You know when working on cars things happen, I know with my luck I would some how hit a bulb and it would shatter going down my lower intake while I had the upper off haha.
Also how would you make the light fixture to telescope to fit multiple hoods?

This one also ratches a full 360* to get the light right where you want it.

Not saying this is the best tool in the world, but for me I thought of ideas...kinda like yours because I'm all about saving a buck and finally said you know what, this light works, all the R&D is done, wont shatter if I hit it, easy to stow, has warrenty, and hey was a BDay present lol!

I know of atleast 5-7 people that would likely buy one from you if you can work the details out. I told the one guy about this thread and he started asking about voltage, relays, and circut breakers....I said I dunno I havent thought about that much in detail and to log on and ask haha

Sometimes it's just better to buy the right tool. Making your own will probably cost a little less, but in this case it's not about how much light it puts out, but how it mounts and how easy it is to use.

Here is my working prototype ... while it IS adjustable, it is a pain to adjust, so tomorrow I will wander around the hardware store some more and come up with something easier to work with.

I literally just got the proof of concept working, so it is still pretty rough around the edges. After I have something more polished, I'll post more pics and details.

They would be easy to make in 3 or 4 foot lengths, and I'd sell them for $40 shipped without the tube. I would not trust trying to ship a flourescent tube.

The ballast is by far the most expensive piece.

If my 1.21 Gigawatts of fluorescent overhead garage lighting doesn't cut the mustard I pull out my handy Craftsman fluorescent work light to light up those dark nook and cranny areas

Works AWESOME on the inside. Last night I pulled the headliner (new one going in), and was doing some misc interior work/wiring and wow what a diff. I hate doing interior work with a flash light, or hot drop light.

I like this light even more now!!!

Sorry for the ugly interior pic, but I was in the middle of working on it.

You're not missing out, 130BHP V-6, Heavy as hell, no power steering, tiny windows, early 80's technology. DMC went out of business in 1983, a few years ago it was reopened in Texas. You can buy a brand new 1982 Delorean DMC-12 for $55,000. The new DMC bought all the frames, the parts, everything to make new cars. You can even get new technology such as single turbo, DVD / Navigation systems, power steering, etc.

My Dad ordered the car you see here in 1980, it's a 1981 DMC-12, black leather, 5-spd car. It cost $27,000 back then. He kept it all original and still drives it every once in awhile. When he had his heart attack in 1986 he taught me how to drive it when I was 13. I would drive to school at 13 in a Delorean, get out, open the Gullwing passenger door (kids would ooh and ahh), help my Dad out of the seat, put him in the driver's seat and he'd go to work. At 14 I drove 3 hours to Orlando while he slept in the passenger seat then 3 hours back home at night.

If I had a nickel for every time I was asked if it had a flux capacitor I'd be retired now. If you combined mine with how many times my Dad was asked we'd own an island.

Aww man, I liked your car (almost twinkies with mine) untill I just noticed you have the two tone black/grey interior :p

Vib thats cool as hell, I seriously thought about buying one about 2-3 years ago. I have always been a fan, and hell Back to the Future is still in my top 5 fav flicks!

Last5.0, haha got me man! I have thought about doing the all black like everyone else, and doing a cobra front bumper but decided to leave it as is since this is how it was when Jenna was here. Especially when I was doing the cage and had ALL the interior out.

Once I hit the 9.11et goal, who knows what this cars fate will become. I for one will be done with this pursuit though!
