Funny/odd thing happend today. Drove to wisconsin today and that means I whomped on it and shifted hard and stuff and all is well. But when I get back to my area at night my shifter handle breaks at the light as I'm putting it into first as it turns green. Keep in mind I have a pro-5.0 shifter. i really dont know how the hell that happend. That shifter is supposed to be really sturdy and it fealt sturdy to me. Anyway's I've got a tri-ax handle on the way (thank god we can get handles seperately for our cars and not have to buy a whole shifter). But in any case anyone else have this problem? Oh and if you care, it broke right below the shift knob where the threads for the knob stop. At first, I thought I broke the knob cuz I didnt think I could possibly break the shifter but then I looked under the knob and saw that the threads were still in the knob. Maybe pro-5.0 should have made their handles out of the plastic that ford makes their oem knobs out of cuz I thought that woud break before the shifter ever did but I guess not......end pointless rant.

I've never heard of this from the aftermarket shifters, but I guess there's a first for everything. Were you "slamming" it into first, or just casually putting it in gear when...SNAP!?!

Never heard of this before about Pro 5.0 shifters. I heard a similar story about a Steeda handle though..

I never heard of this. I'd call pro 5.0 and see what they say, you might get a free one out of it because I imagine they haven't seen it happen much, if at all.

Yeah I'd call Pro 5.0 and get them to send me the new handle that's similar to the Steeda one!

Like Stangfreak95 said, I've never heard of a Pro 5.0 handle breaking. I have, however, heard of a few Steeda handles snapping in two.

Dammit...I look at this post like a few days larer and I didnt think of that...I ordered a tri-ax handle and spent 15 bux for 2nd day air mail. so it was 45 bux. Dammit! I should have called pro5.0. Oh well too late now. Anyways I hear Steedas handles are more ergonomic so hopefully it will be mor comfy. It seems the pro5.0 w/ tri-ax handle is a popular swap. But anyways, yea I was casually putting it into gear when it just broke off. It seems to have broken off by the weld, where they weld the threadded top portion onto the lower part of the handle. But yea if I broke a billet steel handle, I hope steedas forged aluminum handle holds up ok. It is light as hell compared to the pro5.0 handle. Also, anyone have any tips on taking the pro5.0 handle off the shifter. Those two bolts holding it on absolutely wont come loose. I've already broken an allen key trying to get just the top bolt off. I think the previous owner might have loc-tited it or something. Or maybe pro5.0 did that from the factory or something. I even tried heating it with a propane torch and that didnt help. Any ideas anyone?....

Good gawd...that bolt shouldn't be in there that tight! I've always been able to loosen mine via an allen key. It just might be loc-tited in there. Rest assured that Pro5.0 did NOT do that from the factory, LOL!

Get the handle anyways, that way you can keep the one thats the most comfortable and sell the other.

I wish I had the problem of the bolts not wanting to come out as I can't keep mine tight. And this was with both my pro 5.0 I had on my T5, and the tri-ax I have now. I even put loc-tite on them and they still come loose after a while.

Funny you should mention that; I just had to retighten the bolts in my Pro5.0's handle the other day! That sucker was getting so loose I thought it was going to come off during a shift, LOL.

I have heard of the Triax handle braking, not first hand tho. As far as the other shifter handle, call them then get it so you can send it to me shipping already paid of course and keep it in the packaging for me too!

Yep, that is the first I have heard of it. Get a new shifter handle anyway, they might give you one for free.

Or, if you want to reuse the pro50 shift handle for the track, you could always reweld it back on!

that reminds me I should check the bolts on my steeda shifter and see if there loose at all. Sorry that your shifter busted, hopefully you will like the the tri ax handel better.
