A Solution for Resto-Modders

For those of you who are tired of hearing the "Stock-as-a-rock" purists who look down their noses at your vehicle citing, "It's NOT Original" you can answer back "YES it is!"
Just as Rousch, Saleen and Shelby are all "ORIGINAL", your restomod is an original Insert Your Name Here!!!

My '65 "restomod" is an Original Roemer, S/N 001 !!!

I really wish both sides of the issue would appreciate each others preferences. I enjoy going to shows where there is a well done original, just as much as I enjoy seeing a well done modded car. To me it is great to see all the cars that have been saved from the shredder.

Resto mod huh

Restomod to me means making a car BETTER then it was when it came off the show room floor. Runs better, stops better, and handles better.......

No wonder the stockers dont like the restomods, we can out run em, out brake em, and out handle them, and they know it.

My car appears bone stock, till ya crawl under it.

I understand those who want to keep there car stock. What I don't understand are the people who spend insane amounts of money to make their car look showroom new. NOS Firestones that sell for $1,000 a piece because they have the correct code, ditto spark plug wires, batteries, ad naseum....
And after all of that time and money, they are afraid to drive them for fear of damaging them.

I can appreciate both the purists views as well as the restomod way. I would only keep a car all original if it was rare. But since i'm not a collector, I believe in restomodding so long as it is done with taste.

I even love the mopar's and the chevy's too.

I'm a fan of all performance cars, stock, modified or whatever. Dropped trucks, restored musclecars (regardless of brand), hot rods, it really doesn't matter to me, I love 'em all. However, I am sick of seeing cars in trailers that don't belong there. By that I mean stock vehicles that could easily be driven, but the owner can't bring his or her self to soil the undercarrage or subject the bias-ply tires to wear, or heaven forbid risk a rock chip! Hey, if you want to trailer a car, fine, but it should be because you either have 9 kids who love to go to the shows with you, or the car is soooo friggin' wild that driving it on the street for more than a few blocks would land your butt in jail or break windows in every store in 100yds from the earth shaking horsepower. But please, if you own a plain old, one of a million car (like me) keep it out of the trailer, you're embarrasing yourself.

Agreed, if it weren't for the bone stockers we would probably not have our hobby. My comment is for those who are fanatical snobs about it.

And speaking of bone stock....Saturday I saw a beautiful '65 Coupe, UNRESTORED with 35K original miles on it. This gem had been in the same family since the day it left the showroom and was absolutely clean inside and out!

What do you think? Remember, in essence a royalty had to be paid because "M+" is amking money off associating themselves with the Mustang name. Now if "M+" expects Fritz to pay royalties for the term "RestoMod" based on how Mustangs effect his cash-flow..... M+ is gonna owe Fritz a lot of money!

i like 'em both, some cars should be restored to showroom condition others should be made into all out race cars, depends on the car. i like my midifieds but i also like them to at least look stock for the most part. if it looks like a classic stang then it's good if you have to stand back and stare at it forever to figure out if it really is a classic stang you probably went too far.

zookeeper and i think alike on this. i too like performance cars. i also like restored cars as well. the only time cars should be on a trailer is when you are taking more than one to a show, or are taking the car to a race, and want to avoid not being able to get home if the car breaks. otherwise DRIVE THE THINGS BECAUSE THAT IS WHAT THEY WERE DESIGNED FOR!! as to those who think that a car should be restored to factory specs only, i say that is your opinion, and i feel that if the technology had been available then, ford would certainly have used it. and if you dont like the way i have built MY car, then come up with enough money to buy MY car from me and rebuild it as you like. tell then, bugger off.

Just don't forget the part about using their money to buy another one and do it all over again

EDIT: Just for the record; my XR-7 will someday have most the external cues of being "showroom stock"; the only exceptions being the Vintage 60 rims and the dual exhaust tips. -Oh yeah; those tips could probably emit a little more agressive purrrrrrr....
