A Very Weird Problem

I dont even have a radio in my car, I just plug my ipod directly into the amp. Plus the plug wires are brand new, less than a month old since the swap.

i'll try and make one tomorrow if i have time

what brand of wires are they?

do you have another set you can swap on there for diagnostic purposes?

Well, apologies for my smart pants reply last night. I figured it was a 'let's post weirdness on a Friday night' joke.

It'd be almost impossible to do this - car manufacturers would bend over backwards to keep it from happening for obvious reasons. Even if the ignition resistor is gone, etc, it would not happen.

Who in here knows about EMF? It still seems to me that you'd have to bend over backwards to accomplish even one of these feats, let alone multiple ones.

? seriously... the setting off alarms would be the only fesiable one because of the low tones of exaust but for them to shut off when you shut your car off???...then the garage doors opening as you drive by is what i will be looking for in that video.. as mentioned above im a electrician and every garage door is programed with a set of digits...you can adjust them...but everyone on your street being on the same frequency? that would make every garage door open at the same time with any one remote being hit. So its oviously not that...and if he car was scanning frequency that fast the doors wouldn't have time to fully open it would open partially untill it would repeat the same frequency and freeze the door partially open. it would be like hitting your garage door open constantly..because in order to open every garage door it would have to be flying through frequency codes...and to only hit it once...then somehow shutting your car off sends every frequency signal out to comand all the doors to close and only sends these signals once and never repeating.....crapola, well i will wait for this video and i will totally apologize if in fact you prove me wrong...but if for some reason this is true....? area 51 and the government will be looking for you...you might somehow dissapear without a trace.

No didn't disappear, its just when i dont have a running car i dont come on here that much. The car is currently parked in my garage right now..down. I got the tweecer and did something wrong somewhere and the car doesnt run right now. honestly i love my stang more than anything its just thing has one problem after another and cant afford a pro tune right now so i'm just waiting for winter to end before i attempt to start at it again.
Well onto the problem my best friends dad is some type of engineer at aerojet(dont know what kind off the top of my head, but he majored in physics) but the dude is smart which is all that matters in this case, anyways my friend told him about the problem i have been havin and he didn't believe it either. I had to keep hearin it from him how that could not happen, well i gave him a ride in it awhile ago and to his disbelief, it did exactly what I told him. after analyzing for about a week he still couldn't explain it (funniest part was that i could turn his alarm on and off haha). But him and some buddies at work narrowed it down to....when i did my motor swap i used these grounding straps that i got at autozone to replace the one crappy one that was on the engine previously. the straps are un-coverd, they are just bare metal. Somehow with that combined with my alarm system and the power going through those straps is so strong(grounding the entire engine) creates some kind of random frequency.
It's funny, all the "there is no way this could happen" talk because the truth is that it does happen. You'll just have to believe me on that one and i know on the internet that is hard to do but for sciences sake lets just accept it. If anybody else has any ideas, please express them because i am at a loss.
I hate to say it but I bought another car because of my electrical woes, automatic 4 cyl all the way! Still got the stang though, its just not a daily driver unfortunately.

Is your name Powder?
J/K mang. :rlaugh:

As you saw, your friend's science-savvy dad was at a loss too. It's just too bizarre. You really should let someone study this just so they can build the system in question with better shielding so this doesn't happen again.

Good luck bud.

I dont understand, your car is down right now, but you could give your friends dad a ride? Anyway, my ground straps are also bare metal, as well as numerous others, so I dont see that being your problem. Do you by chance have a viper car alarm? If so check the model #, I remember seeing somewhere that these car alarms had a frequency scrambler for the little pager thingy they give you for them, this was causing the weird problem you speak of, not sure if that will help ya but there ya go.

the only kind of interference i have ever heard of on a car was radio interference from plug wires... guys used to put a loose single loop knot in a plug wire to reduce it (i think it was the lead wire from the coil, but it could be the # 1 wire, i dont remember.) either you are trying to play us all as idiots, or you should give this a try when the car is back up, or you should send this car to military testing so they could use your new technology to kick foreign ass!!

If EMF was an issue than the 12V system is not the problem. It produces such a small magnetic field. Now the coil or plug wires/plugs could be an issue (extremely high voltage), but you are talking a serious failure of the insulation on the wires, or the coil itself.

I believe that the garage openers work off of radio frequency, so, maybe this will help. When a stereo system has a nasty background RF noise problem (usually open RCA ports banging away looking for other devices), we use a handheld AM radio and try to listen for spikes in background noise with the antenna as a compass. That might help you isolate the problem.

as said there is nothing engine related that would cause this to happen.
but your alarm system would..
this happened to my cousin but not so bad, he was setting up his alarm system and had to set his transmitter to his new alarm as he was going through the
directions... the garage door opened... a few days later he found out by shutting his truck off the alarm would reset and the garage door would go down..
we just assumed we were to close to the garage door... so we took the truck to
an empty parking lot and reset his alarm system with his transmitter, went back to his home and the garage door did not work with his alarm transmitter...
if you have got a glitch in your alarm system i could definately see this happening.
disconnect it and see what happens.. btw we had to completely disconnect it to
reset the transmitter. try going without it for a couple days see what happens..
