Installed the Accufab 70MM TB&Plenum combo this weekend. Good mod, highly recommend it. Noticeable difference at WOT and throttle response was improved. Put in a Hawker Odyssey PC680 battery at the same time.

yea i canat wait to order the pair. if i can only find the combo for $400 shipped brand new
I got mine from www.mustangtuning.com for $405 including shipping. I emailed them asking for a price quote, cheaper than the price given on the site. :nice:

I agree, much better throttle response but no real SOTP improvement below 3000 rpm. At WOT and over 3000 rpm it's a different story.

Any low-end loss?

I've read years ago that you can lose low-end power when you go to a larger TB - the smaller diameter trades volume for velocity, which helps torque at < 3000 rpm. Did you notice any drop-off?

How easy was the install? Can I do it myself at home with a set of sockets?

I did it with a 8mm and 10mm socket. I did use a torque wrench to tighten the plenum bolts down. I didn't want to crack the plastic lower. The TPS screws are hard to get out with just a screw driver. I have a phillips head screw driver socket attachement for my 3/8 ratchet that worked great.

The guys over at MD did a big wright up on TB&Plenum combo's. I think the car they used was basically stock. Here's the tread.

I read the plenum comparo and they used

"The test car is a 2003 Mustang GT and has BBK Long Tube Headers, BBK X Pipe, Magnaflow Catback, Steeda Pullies."

I was just wondering if it's worth getting more air in the engine if the stock exhaust can't let it out.

I've got just a cat-back, and the SOTP blast at 3K RPMs + is awesome. The stock exhaust isn't that restrictive, but I'd honestly think about getting a catback (at least) before intake mods. Just my 2 cents...I agree with your thinking - what goes in must come out.
With a 70mm TB there is no loss at lower RPMs. Even with a 75, the dyno shows no loss on the test car at MD. But at the time, Accufab recommended a 70mm, so that's what I bought.
Here's mine - jeez, lookin a lot like Rocketman. :nice: :hail2: Hey Rocketman, did you weigh the batteries? - that must of been quite a weight loss.

Yep, it's a pretty easy swap - What I didn't have at the time was a DEEP 10mm socket for the rear EGR bolt.
And for the TPS, I took the old plenum and TB off as one piece, put it in my B&D Workmate, and used a power screwdriver and a little wrist action and the screw came out pretty easily.
You could really do this swap in 15 min, but we took our time, cleaning along the way and spent about 45 min. (It's a good time to clean all the crap off your manifold.) :nice:

Did not weigh the PC680. Was going by the shipping weight on the receipt.

I ordered mine from rpmoutlet last week and it was $419 shipped. I currently have 70mm Accufab TB and C&L which I like but want to get the extra nice polish of the Accufab plenum and the slightly bigger TB.

I put PC680 in a couple of weeks ago. I weighed them before and found that stock battery was 35lbs and PC680 was only 15lbs. I got the best deal off of ebay. Also, I see that you have C&L inlet pipe and MAF. I used to have the same setup but after putting on the bigger TB and Plenum I started throwing codes (lean). I removed the C&L MAF and the codes cleared up. I was wondering if you ran into the same problem and if so how did you fix it?

Actually I have the BBK CAI unit with my stock MAF meter bolted in. Never had a problem with codes.
