Stock quadrant? If so, release the pawl and hold it while pushing the pedal to the floor. Then let it up and it'll ratchet and take the slack out of the cable and self-adjust itself.

The quad is the part on the clutch pedal that the cable hooks into. I took mine out and installed an aftermarket one a few weeks ago. The stock one is plastic.

Did you disengage the quad/pawl as you installed the old cable? Sometimes you have to mechanically divorce the quad/pawl (pulling the pedal doesnt do it). You get up under the dash to do this.

The adjustment can be off because it was adjusted for your old stretched cable. The new cable is shorter so it engages/disengages closer to the top of the pedal travel. You need to put slack back into the adjustment.
