Hello All - Looking for some advice. I purchased a 101K mile '97 GT last summer, without knowing much about the 4.6L. (I'm a previous long term 5.0 guy), I had never planned on getting an SN-95, but I got a pretty good deal on the '97 so I bought it. Aside from the mileage, it's been pretty well cared for. I've lately been reading here a lot about the problems with the stock plastic intake. I realize I should change mine out because of the mileage as it does not look like it's ever been touched, and I'm assuming I'm on borrowed time with it. My question is - I would like to someday get both PI heads & intake, but funding it is a ways off yet. But given that I should really change the intake asap, would you recommend going with the PI intake first, even though - for me - the heads may be a year or two before I can buy them. I also see/read conflicting reports about the adapter plate. Some say the PI intake can be used with the non-PI gaskets. My plan would be to go with PI intake now, with non-PI gaskets, anticipating PI heads later. Does this sound ok, or should I ust do the stock replacement with the aluminum coolant crossover and deal with the PI stuff later? Thanks in advance for any advice.
