so without saying too much about what i've done to the fender, which do you prefer: stock or modified? this is just a scrap fender that i've mocked up, so i know the finish work sucks, it's just to give an idea.

I think it might would look ok, presuming the rest of the car were modified in similar fashion. Kinda has a modern look to it. Hard to say judging from one picture at one angle with only primer. It is a subtle difference that will no doubt cause some people to wonder what exactly it is that looks different.

here's a few more angles, with the stock fender for comparison. and the rest of the car will have some minor, tasteful updates. such as shaved handles, rear side markers off a newer mustang, low-profile hood scoop and an updated interior. someday i might fab some bolt on fender flares.

people that drive new hondas don't understand why we like old gas guzzlers. Creativity and style is the backbone of this hobby, often it has no particular reason or purpose, other than "just because."

UG me like old fender better.
I like the sharp hard angles of the classics this is one of the attraction they have to me. Modern cars are all old soap bars with no angles to speak of. I for one have a hard time telling one of the new models from the other. That’s why I don’t like the removal of chrome, shaving drip rails or shaving door handle it is those details that scream I’m a classic to me. Of course this is just one mans opinion and it is your can and you can and should do what makes you happy.

You've sorta created a pseudo-Shelby fender look... Got a pic with the extension on the fender? It probably won't matter anyway for me. I think that particular line on the fender is one of my favorites on the whole car, especially where it transitions into the extension. It's all about drama. The new line has a slicker (though not necessarily sleeker) look to it.

For me it's kinda like Hollywood movies... I'll take raw drama over slick production every time.

Correct me if Im wrong, all you did was flatten out the top of the fender? I think it's cool and shows that subtle, different look BUT, how well does it match up to the door. I know on my 66' the "cup" runs all the way to my c pillar.

yeah, i'm interested in subtly. i like the classic styling, which is why i have a classic mustang, but i want to personalize it a little. when it's finished i want people to have to look for the changes, rather than getting knocked down by them. i'd love to shave the drip rails, but i'm not sure i want to get into that commitment. any other recommendations would be welcome.
