does anyone know if the afr rocker arm studs share the same size thread into the head with a 3/8" stud as a 7/16" stud? /I've broken a few 3/8" studs something about feeling the 7 k msd rev limeter!

Yes, all rocker studs have the same bottom thread.

I am putting a 351 together now with a 185's. I am wondering if I will have the same problem. What intake gaskets are you using? What is your set up?

I have AFR 185 heads on my "crate" long block stroker in the Fastback. I had a stud literally unscrew itself cleanly from the head, and the rocker/stud combo floated around under the valve cover before I shut the engine down (no noise). Apparently, the studs were never torqued by the assembler, and I never checked them as the valve train was already installed. I torqued everything down and all was OK for a while. A few months later, that same stud broke off at the rocker. I assumed it was "hurt" from the stresses of the previous unscrewing episode. I replaced the single 3/8" stud and all has been OK. However, I have been in contact with AFR as I am upgrading to 7/16" studs just in case the original 3/8" studs are a problem. The head threads are the same. The part number for the 3/8" studs are ARP #100-7101 and are otherwise the same dimensions as the original 3/8" studs

I hope you remember to put thread sealer on the bottom threads of those studs too. Some of them intersect the intake ports and water passages.

You will also need to remember that you will need new roller rockers when swapping stud sizes.
