After LT headers, what should be my next mod?

As you can see from my list of mods below, I have primarily focused on induction modifications. On Tuesday, I am having Hooker headers and o/r x-pipe installed  At that time, I will also have the car dyno tuned  Any guesses on my rwhp? (I'll be sure to post the results). Also, what do you recommend for my next mod(s)?

Since you have an automatic, you need to get a transmission cooler. Heat is the number 1 killer of automatic transmissions.

Aside from the transmission cooler, a torque converter and shift kit would be two other great mods to do. So would a cat-back to compliment your exhuast work.

I thought that you only needed the transmission cooler if you are running a torque converter, and I don't plan on getting one. Also, the Predator flash tuner serves the purpose of a shift kit on an automatic transmission. Finally, I've toyed with getting a catback exhaust (Steeda?) but have been told that there is not much horsepower to be gained. I'd rather spend money to make my car fast than to make it sound fast.

All auto's have torque converters.. the $35 investment for a tranny cooler isn't a bad idea. However a PI torque converter for $1000 would be a little overkill for the build you currently have. You would notice an increase in power but by the time you get the converter and have it installed, etc etc.. it can become expensive (trust me i know). Just to be clear, the new torque converter wouldnt increase your horsepower or torque, just free up more that is normally lost by the drivetrain so your putting more power to the wheels.

Supercharger :nice:

I would like to stay naturally aspirated. My goal is to have a streetable 12 second car that I ocassionally bring to the track. Perhaps polished and ported heads and a custom cam would be the next logical step. Any recommendations?

Having a chip or programmer can firm up the shifts in an auto, but does it really do it to the extent that a shift kit or jmod would? I doubt it, or very few people people would bother with digging into their transmissions.

If you're going the N/A route, some ported heads and new cams would really wake the car up. Pair that with a Bullitt intake (or ported Bullitt  ) and you would have one nice N/A setup.

I would like to replace the lower intake. I have two reservation about the Bullitt intake. First, I've seen the design and it looks like it would require a different tb and plenum. I just spent over $400 for the Accufab 75 mm tb and plenum. Second, the Bullitt intake is too expensive for the gains. I hear that BBK and C & L might be making lower intakes within then next year so I might wait for those. But I would want to be able to use my Accufab tb and plenum.

If all you want is a lower intake, you'll have to wait for somebody to get off their ass and start making one.

The Bullitt intake is good for about 5 or so peak HP, but that's not where it shines, or what really matters. The entire power band is improved, and it doesn't turn to crap at high rpm's like the stock one does.

$900 for 5 rwhp hardly seems worth it. Also, I read that a stock 99+ 4.6 required some modifications and adjustments to utilize the Bullitt intake. See article at www.x-m-p.com/bullitt

The fastest N/A 2V drag racers use it for a reason. There are threads about it at www.modulardepot.com
