Air Conditioner Drips on LT's

After shutting off the motor and parking the car the ac drips cold water on the hot lt's and I am starting to think this is gonna cause probs and I might want to find a way to make the ac drain to a different place.

Thoughts, opionions, suggestions, or whatever

I remember when I worked at ford during high school expedition owners had the same complaints. Ford solved this problem by designing a rubber hose that redirected the water away from the header. That should solve your problem find a hose that will slip over the drain and rig it to where the water is dumped else where.

Doesnt it drip on the stock headers too? Im pretty sure that mine get dripped on....

Mine does it too on my 90. I just have BBK shorties. It sounds like a sizzling skillet after I stop.

I was kinda thinking that the cold water on the hot metal might cause some kind of damage like metal fatigue.

I doubt its much of a problem, if they are hot it just boils right off.

I live in TX and dont have AC. Plus this summer has been pretty cool in comparison.

there is nothing wrong with it doing that.

i like it doing that instead of coming out and seeing a huge puddle and having to get down to check if something is leaking some other fluid

i assumed that it wouldnt hurt your headers if they are hot. i dont think the water really has time to mess anything up seeing how your headers are like 1000*

i was told at a muffler shop that cold water hitting the header would eventually crack them. i'm not really sure how or why, didn't have time to ask for explanations, but that's what they stated and encouraged me to do something about it whenever i got my exhaust

i could see that if the car was cooling off and the ac was dripping on the headers or the car was cold started and there was already some water on them it would start to rust/crack them out quicker because of the vast temp change over a short period of time,

it wouldn't be too difficult to relocate the drips so i say do it and don't take chances. btw, are the lts coated, chrome, or what?

I rarely use my A/C (only when my daughter is in the back seat and the wind blows her hair in here eyes) but mine does this on the stock manifolds. I was also wondering if it was bad on them.... BUT - I just hit 166k on the ticker and the stock manifolds are still fine. Something to think about.
