Air filter ?

In another thread, people were talking about how a C&L meter needs a straight piece of pipe in front of it to smooth out turbulance so the meter would read correctly.

How about for a stock meter? I have a K&N bolted directly to the stock meter now, doesn't seem to be any problems though.

What would these problems be? And why would the C&L be any different? (if in fact the stock meter is ok with a filter bolted directly to it)

They just work best with a straight steady flow of air... with the filter right on it, air can come in at different directions and cause some turbulence... I don't know how the stock one compares to the C&L... I still have tha stock MAF and stock box w/ K&N
