The stock air intake on a V6 looks like this: (i know it's not the best)

_______
/ / (horn shapeped pice on the intake end)

\ /___________
\ _______\
\ __filter here______ / (throttle body)

OHH!!! THE PAGE MESSED MY DIAGRAM UP!!!

I took the horn shaped piece off my stock intake. This exposes one whole side of the air filter alot more. I want to know if this may have any cons to it.

congratulations! youve found the least expensive modification one can do to their mustang!
you have succesfully removed what is called the "Air Silencer" which, one can easily assume, silences the air if it wanted to makje a loud noise when being drawn in. Yes, this increased your perfomance by .75 hp! no, it has no negative side effects that any of us have noticed. We dont understand why ford had it on their, but i guess we can just assume people dont want a sucking sound, although i never noticed it... (before i gots my ebay CAI) my CAI makes a sound when i really get on it... alot of effort has gone in on the part of ford to make our cars quiete and stuff on the road, which sadly doesnt coincide with performance neccesarily (think nice smooth ride = less handling capability in most instances...)
