The other week my GF's dad told me he had a good idea for my car. For reference here is a pic

Now the car has blue pearl in it and obviously its black. So he said I should call it "The Black Pearl" Which i think fits quite nicely. He proceeded to say that he thought I should get a airbrush drawing or something similar under the hood of the ship from Pirates of the Carribean. That got me thinking....so what you guys think of that idea?

Ehhhh...not my cup of tea. I guess it depends exactly what you're looking at getting airbrushed from Pirates of the Caribbean..

You may just end up with people going "Why the hell does he have a pirate ship painted on his car?"

It isn't exactly one of those common sense corrolations people will make between a made up name for your car and the movie.

I would think twice on this one IMO.

This makes me think of the murals with wheels that were in with the van crowd in the 70's.

Not a big fan of that sort of stuff, but I can and has been pulled off if done right. However I am with Dan95-5.0, if you stick with the mustang logo you'll probably be better off.

It adds a certain sexiness to the entire package.

I would do

1. Ford logo in the pearl

2. A horse in the pearl

3. A large snake wraped around a half naked latino woman holding a beer in one hand and a knife in the other running out of the jungle with an aztec pymd. in the background with little aztecs coming after her holding torches.

4. The stripes going down the bottomside of the hood like they are on the topside.

5. Merlin holding a crystal ball...K...with fog all around him, with his hands put up at the 10 and 2 like he is casting a spell. In the ball some poor LS1 on fire.

Really, only 1, 2, & 4 though.

I agree with blksn955.o, except I would also include 3, and probably recommend that one. It sounds like it could turn me on.

Honestly, mirror it, don't paint it. You'll be happier.

3 was tempting...but then he would have to get some 15x11 wire rims with low pro's and some switches...oh and most of all the spinning captains chairs with low backs and diamond tuck and roll. You know one thing leads to another and then its just too nice to take out anymore

If you are intersted in doing it, go talk to a air brush artist & give him ideas and see what he can do.
Personal preferance & can add visual to a car at a car show.

i say a definate nay. i've rarely seen airbrush jobs on things like this that i like--the concept usually sounds cool but often turns out cheesey and funny-looking.

Hm, it's a neat idea...

and it can be done in a cool way.

but I still stand by my beliefs that:

any airbrushing on a car is strickly...

I'm sorry... very few are the exception to this rule.

But with the hood, you could take the hood off, hand it to the paint guy, and he wouldn't be encumbered with the car. It would be like painting a canvas.

Personalizing your car without going rice is a difficult rope to walk. But under the hood is the perfect spot IMO. GO FOR IT!!!
