Airing of greavences!!

Previous owner(s) either didn't care, or lacked the ability to maintain a vehicle. Positives were the car was solid...a southern car, a great price, a good start. Driveline was exhausted, suspension was worn, interior was...not pretty. I took the car home cheap but NEVER expected to have to rebuild and learn how to work on every damn aspect of the car...but that's basically what I had to do.
after a few months of ownership I was looking at this every day.....

Package tray? Console?

I'm not sure if package tray is the right word. Heres a pic with everything taken out. Marvel in the POS stupidity. Both my father in law and I we're dumbstruck. This car is in really nice shape otherwise.

I have since covered it with a bulkhead.

junk motors

um my 84 capri I bought the guy said the motor was rebuilt. I drove it home then the next day try to start it and didn't want to turn over. After hours of trying to figure it out the timing chain was so sloppy the pistons came up and hit the valves. Tore the motor apart to find out he did refresh the motor by using toooo small of piston rings and not to mention most of them where broken off into the cyinders. I bought a 82 mustang with a rebuilt 1968 302 but to bad he used the original oil pump from and the pump went out and so did the engine. :notnice:

Well all didnt go well today, I got all the bolts out but 3 and got pissed and left, they were the engine mounts, they were closing anyway so I left, but im going back tomorrow with a vengence, that piece of crap is going home with me, the engine im pulling is the one me and a friend pulled the intake off of, we bought it for $40 and then sold it for $185 on ebay in 2 hours, so if this shortblock isnt any good, ill sell the heads (gt40p) Dang them stupid motor mounts, got the tranny undid, just those stupid things, end rant. merccapri, that is exactly how I feel with my engine it lost all power and smoked a month after I get it, that sucked!!

The PO of my 88 had the heater core go out. Not uncommon but his solution wasn't to put a hose in between the ends of the hard lines that run down the intake, it was to pull the hard pipes out and throw them in the trash.

So now I have to get new hard lines. The car runs rich cause the ECT isn't installed and for some reason he disconnected the EGR system.

He cut the headliner and backing board where the map light would be to install an LCD  so that has to be fixed.

And I don't know if he did it or FHP did it but someone bashed the crap out of the drivers side torque box so I have to fix that as well.

But its an SSP coupe and the body is straight, except for the torque box, and it has NO rust so the rest of the stuff can be fixed. All it takes is time and money.

Its alright, getting better though, new explorer engine tomorrow, will be interesting, ive got to fit it into the explorer with an engine lift, so that will be a challenge. shooting for real low 13's and maybe high 12's with some real tires, ones that dont spin through 3rd.

Josh

looks real good. but hate to break it to you but..... your missing your door trim :p

Car had a slightly choppy idle but ran ok when you got on it. PO said it had an HP cam in it. When I dug into, it had a non-HO cam in it. :( :bang:

hey question???

the H) engines Cam are different then the non HO cams.

the HO engine have a different firing order then the non HO engine right?

am i right?

and what us the firing order of the HO vs non HO engines?

The previous owner of my first mustang was a total douche and put all Rockford Fosgate speakers all around. When he did the speakers, he used a 14 gauge wire for the power wire to the amp. The day before I bought it, he took the sub and amp out, and cut the remote wire to a point where I can't use it.

My car's issues are:
-blown heater core (bypassed it tonight temporarily)
-clunk in rear suspension
-burnt smell from exhaust
-rust
-check engine light comes on and off (TPS)
-starter sometimes stays engaged
and probably a few other things Ive forgotten

my old lx was very, well, i guess jury-rigged is the best way to put it. the po had gotten a dui and had to have a breathalizer hooked up to legally be able to drive to work, it acted as an ignition interuppter, if it didnt like what it smelled, it would ground out the coil. the shop that took it out was stupid enough to just let the ground wire under the dash hanging and strung up to the dash frame, when i went to do the heater core in the thing, i hooked the wire up thinking it was some sort of dash ground. car didnt start for a week and a half untill i realized what was going on.

also, while doing heatercore, i found all the light paddle switches had all been cut and were just electical-taped together. that was a pita to fix.

and, of course the radio was screwed up, it was a pos aiwa without the mounting plate. he just used a couple hose clamps screwed end to end to hold it to the console frame.

now my gt didnt really have any problems, it didnt pass emissions the first time, but a new egr, pcv, and plugs cured that.
