I PUT IN THE NEW ALUMINUM D/S AFTER HAVING THE TRANNY SHIMMED THE HIGH SPEED VIBE IS GONE FOR THE MOST PART IT NOW STARTS IN ABOUT 85MPH IT IS DIFFERENT THOUGH IT NOW PULSATES(BUT TOLLERABLE). THE OTHER PROBLEM IS WHEN I TAKE OFF 1ST TROUGH 2ND AND PART OF 3RD THERE IS A VIBE BE IT HARMONIC OR OTHERWISE I FEEL IT IN THE FLOOR AND PEDALS AND A LITTLE IN THE SHIFTER DOESN'T MATTER IF IT'S LIGHT THROTTLE OR FULL THROTTLE. IT WILL GO AWAY IF YOU LIFT OFF THE GAS. I NOTICED THAT I HAD TO ADJUST THE CLUTCH CABLE AT THE FIRE WALL AFTER THE SHIM JOB. ANY AND ALL HELP IS GREATLY APRECIATED. THANK YOU

Does it sound like a heartbeat beat but like the sound was being made by a couple 12" subs in the trunk??? That's my best description of what I had and it was my axle bearings. It was rhythmical in nature, but was deep like bass, and would pulse on then off. The other vibration could be from the balancer, or a warped pressure plate, etc.

You are on the money with your description, it was hot out I had the windows down so I can't say that I heard it, rather I felt it in the the shifter. The balancer is one of summitt's sfi H/D's it was $275 and was put in when i bought the car since it ate it's stock one, 86k on the car. The other thing I forgot to mention was when I was under the car putting in the new d/s I spun the old one and noticed it would get hard to turn every 4th to 5th turn then it would spin easier( any thought's?). thank's for the input.

With 4.10's every 4 or so turns of the DS would be 1 turn of the ring gear/axle/wheel, maybe you better inspect the ring and pinion as perhaps the pinion is bent or something, or an axle may be bent and binding up as it rotates around??? Pull the case off and have a look as someone rotates it around. You may want to try putting a dial indicator of the ring gear as well. I don't kno what kind of run out is normal, but get your measurement first and then start calling around.

My friends neighbor who has a 89 notchback suggested that it might possibly be a warped rear rotor? I have not checked that yet since I wanted to see if the high speed vibe was gone. it's just odd since the tranny install & lowering kit I have all these bugs to work out.

Have you checked the motor and tranny mounts? Also, what about the harmonic balancer - do you see rubber squishing around it? Just an idea. I hate those annoying vibes! The axle bearing are a good guess too - excellent description!! Possibly even the pinion bearing?
