Another A4LD Question

I posted a thread a couple of days ago about a 2.3 coupe I am planning to buy as my daily driver. You guys were very helpful on that so I have another question for you. The car has 120 some odd thousand miles. What is the normal life span of the auto tranny? I have the AOD in my 5.0 which has a bad rep, but it has been nothing but reliable for me (knock on wood). I don't beat on my 5.0 very much at all, and will definently drive the 2.3 like an old lady. So baiscally how reliable are they?

it all depends on how hard the first 120 k was... all in all get rid of it... do a T5 swap ASAP!!!

It really depends on how the car was driven, and if the fluid was changed in the transmission regularly. I only got 100K out of my transmission, but never changed the fluid. I have also seen people get almost 200K by changine the fluid regularly.
The transmission is actually suprisingly strong, but simply not very durable (repeated abuse, and going without fluid changes)

That is what kinda bothers me the fluid looked a bit darker than it should. But then again it was starting to get dark out so it was hard to see.

The fluid in my A4LD was black when I pulled it today. Time for a T5 Swap, anyone got one in Jersey??
