Another noisy tranny post

I know there was a post up about this before, but just within the past 3 weeks my T5 has gotten progressively louder with the whining. I know alot of you guys say that your T5's whine as well, but mine never did in the past 2 years I've owned the car. This concerns me as I also changed the fluid and the whine is still there and still getting louder. Is there anything I can check that might be causing this? Loose bolts, worn bearings, etc...???

What did you replace the fluid with? ATF? Just wanted to make sure.

My third gear whines like most people's. From what I understand, our reverse gear doesn't have synchros. And when I drive in reverse with the clutch let all the way out, it whines, just like my 3rd gear, but much louder. My guess is that your, and our synchros have a decent amount of wear to them.

When you drained the fluid, did you notice any metal shards or specks of metal?
