Does anyone know if a '66 Fairlane 9 inch rear will fit under a '65 mustang. Think one has to move the perches, but think that's it??? Been reading all the threads on the rear end swaps, and have to admit....quite confused at this point....
I see you've found the one on ebay. It's two inches wider, otherwise it'll bolt right in. I emailed the seller for better pics, the one pictured sure looks like an 8" to me.
Ack, you found me out. Ya saw it on ebay, didn't look real close as didn't have time, was going to go back and look, but alas. I have found some complete 9" rears for 125 or so, and some Exploder rears for cheaper or same price with disc, but leaning towards something a little easier...
The Exploder rears can be a great deal, just watch the ratio. I looked at 7 of em in one yard a few months ago, two had 3.08's and drums open diff, three had 3.73's, posi and drums, two had 3.73's, posi and discs. I settled for an 81 Bronco 9" with 3.50's and traction loc. If I could have found an Exploder rear with 4.11's and trac-loc, I'd have ******ed that up instead. Costs the same to narrow the 9 & 8.8's.
No, I didn't buy it. Still deciding which way to go. Have to talk to a buddy of mine, that does rear ends and trannies, and see what he can do for me too.
As to the Exploder rears. reading the write ups (maybe I was just too tired) but it just seemed a bit more confusing cutting those down....
