Another stupid cam question.

OK, I got the cam out. And I am ready (almost) to put the new one in. I got one of Anderson Motorsports cams, the B-31.

Anyway, there are two metal dowels that cam with it (don't know what they are called). The longer one looks like the right length compared to the thing in the end of the stock cam. But before I put that dowel in, I want to make sure that I am doing the right thing. Anyone know??? (it looks like the dowel needs to be tapped in.)

Here is a picture of the new cam (bottem) and the stock one. The two dowels are at the bottem right.

I'm pretty sure that I used the short one and that the long is for the older blocks but maybe someone else will chime in

I'm pretty sure I used the short one also. I got the measurement out of the Ford Service Manual and then called the dealership to verifty. So call the dealership they should have the lenght. I'm thinking 2.125". Peace

Mine was the short one. But you probably already have the cam in. How's it coming?

Just measure the depth of the hole with the cam gear sitting on the end.
