I just bought a set of Boyds ( yeah, I hate him too :) ) wheels for my 65 fastback. They have a 5.5 backspace. I figure I will need a 3/4 spacer / adaptor. I just read on another thread that iskwezm believes that spacers wider than 3/8 are unsafe. If this is the case , what should I use?? I can't imagine any adaptor less than an inch thick being safe because it needs to be bolted to the hub , and the rim to the adaptor. Seems like a lot to ask of a relatively thin piece of metal. Thanks.

I said spacers were unsafe because it reduces the amount of threads the lug nut is tightening onto.If your use adapters that have their own studs and are bolted to the hub, those are better.

I hate Boyd too :notnice:
