A lil while back i had a oil pump shaft break in my 92 lx. i wanted to do it anyway so i did a total overhaul. contents included >030. speedpro 9.6:1 piston . moly rings. tool out stock cam went with a crane powermax 2040 camshaft. took off the E7 heads went with a set of GT40P's put a set of 7/16 stud down rockers. had head professionally studded and milled down for guide plates. went with some pro comp 1.6 .still have stock valve springs havent finished yet . PROBLEM.... recommended valve springs got the cam used? 2nd i have 6.40 pushrods b/c for some reason my 6.25 was to short couldn't get enough preload. Im using manley SBF guide plates and they dont seem to line up perfectly.. when my valves float due to to weak of valve springs my exhaust rocker on number somes off any suggestions.

My set up
306 9.6:1 speedpro hyper pistions
93 cobra upper and lower ported intake
gt40p heads
1.6 roller rockers
75mm pro M mass air for 19lbs
65mm edelbrock throttle body w/ bbk spacer
1.5" intake spacer to clear edlebrock vale covers
under drive pullies
3 core aluminum radiator with 2800 cfm electric fan.
3g alternator
msd street fire coil with stock distributor and msd cap
ford racing shorty headers for p heads w/ mac H pipe and flows
full steeda suspension and grantelli upper and lower control arms
t-5 w/ 411 tru lock gears

and pointers will be great just want to finalize my setup

Well the pushrod length can be anything as long as geometry is right, since you converted a ped mount head over to stud mount that can effect it a little. I use the COMP or ISKY adj ( you get these in the proper position then weld them together) guide plates but they are all about the same as far as valve spacing.

The ProComp rockers are junk and are known for breaking, personally I would replace those before going any further. Do you know what retainers you have or are those stock. I could set you up with the proper valvetrain combo if interested.

If your floating valves you are taking a huge chance at hurting the motor...

valve train is totally stock. and yes i was thinking about going with some scorpion rockers. i dont like the pro comps too sloppy. i need to get valve springs for the p head is where im running in to a problem. i emailed crane for the 2040 powermax cam its almost identical to a b303 cam. they told me i needed double valve springs and the sent the specs just cant find the email
