Any way to hardwire an ipod to your factory head unit??

Yeah, but expect to pay anywhere from $150-200 bones. Easiest and cheapest way is a wired FM transmitter that can be purchased for $50. Its what I use with my ipod and 460. No static whatsoever.

I want to know the same thing.

I got an Ipod Nano for Christmas and I want to be able to use it with my factory stereo in my 2002 Mustang GT. What do you guys use or suggest i get to make this happen? I want to stay away from FM Transmitters if possible. My car has the Mach stereo system and has the 6-disc cd changer. Go to Circuit City and ask them for a Audiovox Wired FM Transmitter which cost about $50. Crutchfield also has a wired FM transmitter on thier website. That is the best and cheapest way to play your ipod thru the Mach 460. Remember the key word here is WIRED. I am currently using the Audiovox one from CC and I have had no issues or problems with it soundwise.

I'm loving my JVC and my IPOD. The JVC has an adapter that makes the IPOD act just like a cd changer. My IPOD is in the glove box and I can access any song from it by using the remote or the controls on the hu. More and more aftermarket hu's are putting usb ports on the front now too for mp3 players. The sound is better than the original CD's that I converted to mp3.

Peripheral makes an IPod2Car for your vehicle.. They retail for 189 plus 19.95 for vehicle harness. It will charge the ipod and control it through the factory radio as if your car had a multi-disc changer in the trunk..

You might want to look around for the correct adapter. They are all different depending on whether the car has a CD changer, the SAT button, etc..

Actually the best solution would be an Alpine in dash head unit with the ipod adapter and not a wired, wireless or P.I.E. adapter.

I wanted to control my iPod from the iPod itself... not through the head unit.

Also, I have an XM radio in my car. When I am not using the RCA cable for the iPod, I switch it over to the XM radio..

In terms of sound quality, PIE adapters are hard wired into the head unit... I don't see how the sound would get any better unless you get rid of the Mach 460..

I wanted a cheap solution, that was better than an fm modulator, without having to replace the head unit...
