Hey guys, I'm looking for a shop that ports and polishes heads here in Western Canada. I'll go as far as Manitoba. I want to get them done so the whole motor is complete. I don't want to buy new ones for another $2000 when I have perfectly good ones that can be P&P'd. Anybody know if Davenport Racing in Calgary does this or have a machine shop that can? Anybody know of anyone in Canada that can do this? There's got to be some shop that has a flowbench.

I don't mean to be harsh, but I seriously doubt you are going to find someone out here who does a good job with Ford's modular head. It is not about having a flowbench, it is the trial and error that went into finding what works for the companies that P&P the modular head. I know that Tim at MPH wrecked countless heads finding what works, Jim at Renegade racing wrecked countless heads finding what works, etc. They are not willing to pass on where they ported the heads so that they can be copied.

Also that $2000.00 you are paying for these companies heads is not just the port work. You are paying for the new and improved hardware that is going into these heads as well.

My advice would be to use the stock heads until you can afford the P&P heads. Not the best scenario for you and your KB. Remember this. You get what you pay for, especially when talking about P&P Modular heads.

You are exactly right. I've tried a few machine shops and they say the same. They won't touch the Mod head for fear of wrecking it. I just thought that being the mod motor has been out for almost 10 years now there must surely be someone in Canada that can do this. I know Tim does great work with the 2.5's, I just hate to spend that after I just got 2004 heads last year. Guess I should have planned better. Thanks for the input though.

I talked to ABS Competition here in Regina, they claimed that they've done a few sets before and had no reservations about doing a "street" job on mine. A full out race p&p they said they didn't have enough experience to do properly. I know there are a few guys around here running 4.6's in older vehicles that have had ABS do work on them.

SHM has a horrible name in the modular community. Don't believe me, do a search on them at Modular Depot or Corral.

That's odd though cause in MM & FF they use SHM motors a lot and they never seem to have any big issues. Personally based on Joe's experience I think MPH is the place to buy from.

There's nothing wrong with SHM. I buy from both them and VT engines. ModularDepot is so VT biased just like Stangnet is Modularpowerhouse biased. 90 of the people who make comments have never even bought from these places, it's all hearsay. Look at some of the threads in 4.6 tech on SHM. The only reason guys don't like them is because they are Canadian. I like VT and SHM. I have never ordered anything from ModularPowerHouse so I can't comment. To me If you have never ordered anything from someone don't comment on them. There's too much BS on the internet. Best rule of thumb, if you've boughten something from a company and had problems, buy all means say it, if you haven't, keep your mouth shut.

Here are what the MPH heads look like. Very nice CNC work as well as where they hand port the heads. Very much worth 1850 US.
