Anyone else burn up their cap and rotor a lot?

This is my fifth one this year, I am gunna try an msd cap and rotor set, Right now i just have a fms distributer, msd coil, and taylor spiro pro wires. I just seem to keep burning up wires and cap and rotors. Its reall starting to piss me off, ive tried msd wire too and fms and they all burn. I just wrapped my headers and got wire guides to try and help. Could a bad coil cause this? My ignition coil gets hotter than hell, is that a possibility?

If your plug gap is too large, this can happen. Otherwise, given the MSD cap/rotor and coil, I would contact them. The coil having an issue is possible.

weird, i change mine often cause i like to waste money, but never 5 in a year! i go through a cap and rotor every 5K miles MAYBE... thats with nitrous shots here and there also

3-4 per year with older 76 granada cap/dizzy and msd al6 and jacobs coil (60000v). Big fat .60 gap. Comes with the territory on these higher power ignition systems. I'm afraid to see what my hi-6 is going to do...HAHAHA

Dont worry about it. If your ignition system is powerful enough to blast up dizzy caps left and right...be happy.
