Hey all, I'm looking into getting my intake polished out. I've so far went from looking at getting it Jet-Hot coated to polished out, but am looking at the option of chrome powdercoating so I'm not spenting the rest of my life buffing it out. Any suggestions of companies?

I'd go with the ceramic coating (Jet Hot). You'll get the look you're after, you won't have to keep polishing it AND you'll get the benefit of greater thermal stability. You won't get part 3 with either of the other two approaches.

Yeah I just hear that the finish wont be a mirror finish and wont be the best if I'm showing the car.

Well you gotta decide what you want. If mirror is what you're after -- chrome or polish is the ticket. And maintenance goes along with that. I have no such problem -- as I can't abide chrome or polish on the car. Sand paper and satin black paint are my favorite under-hood finishes.

Good luck deciding what you want!

I'm plenty relaxed -- just couldn't understand why you'd want to see pics of my manifold if 1) you like chrome, 2) I don't like chrome, and 3) you can already see it in my avatar. Nevertheless, knock yourself out if it helps you decide - happy to help. Click on the link.....

www.airborncoatings.com does an awesome job.

The thing you have to worry about is the temps, the intake will need a coating that will take the heat.

I've seen chrome intakes, man they look great but they seal all the heat in.

i do powdercoating for my own stuff. while the quality has increased over the years on the chrome, its not perfectly chrome
chrome is a 2 step. chrome -bake then clear-bake
after the first step, it looks virtually perfectly chrome, the clear takes away from the shine because it allows the chrome particles to misallign as it cures, using a transparent topcoat helps keep shine, but then its like a candy chrome, and that means you have to have a color scheme instad of just chrome. i have some pics, i will try to post of my chrome and blue candy stuff, but these size limits are killing me so i dont know if they will come up, i can send them to an email if someone can resize/host...
