Once you index a bell housing to a block and install the offset dowels you can pull it and reinstall it all you want. Makes no sense that you would have to reinfect it every time you removed it being you index with the flywheel only so you have to remove it to install the clutch setup.

The video you shared earlier I was looking at the comments and a lot of people were saying that's one of the easiest videos that they have ever seen. This video I watched earlier to me this one seems a lot easier than that one overall.

Let me know if you think it's easier

I like those offset dowels and that is a pretty decent video but I have done this a couple of times so it makes sense to me.

Are you saying there a different type of dowels to be used for indexing?

Yes. They are offset in different increments. You have to index the bell housing then order the dowels that get it within the range as specified by the trans manufacturer.

Silversport has two which are 0.007” and 0.014”. They have an Allen head wrench end so that after they are installed into the block you can rotate them to move the bell housing as needed. You want the 0.499” OD dowel pins.

Silver Sport Transmissions Dial-in Kits and Dowel Pins

Tools like the Dial Indicator Kit, replacement parts and accessories like Clutch Fork Boots and Pivot Studs, and Offset Dowel Pins to align your driveline.

That's a little confusing lol.

So you're saying it's either going to be a .007, .014, or a 0.499? I understood that those are the ones that they make them in but when you said I would want the 0.499

No. The OD of the dowel needs to be 0.499" so it will install into the Ford block. Other brands use different diameter dowels.

The dowel is offset 0.007" to one side. If you install both of them with the offset to the right then it will shift the bell housing to the right 0.007". If you install both of them with the offset to the right and up then you will shift the bell housing 0.005" up and 0.005" to the right. I just text you how I figure this out and I will spare everyone here the math as it may confuse more folks than it helps.

F it, let the confusion begin…

The .007" and .014" numbers are the offsets that are available. The .499" dimension is the outside diameter of the particular dowel pins you would need.

On another note with this X I wonder if the PO had a leak because shorties are on the car and I know it should not have been cut in that area for those band clamps?

BBK built them like that. It was so they could ship them in a smaller box. Mine is just like that. If you see leaks just have an exhaust shop remove them and weld the pipe up.

Be careful posting it for sale if it’s not three letter compliant. People are getting busted as they are going through for sale ads on forums.

Posting up adds with emissions defeating items. New administration may rectify that.
