Anyone remove their smog pump and A/C?

In Minnesota there are no emissions laws, and I am running no cats. My A/C has never worked and I do not think I would even care to get it to work. I like to auto x my car and look for simple things that could benefit my car. Will removing these two things make my car faster because it does not have to spin as many accessories? Is it even worth it as far as weight savings go? Who has done this and how hard was it? I have tools so that's no big deal. Give me some pointers so I can do this if it is worth it.

I just removed my a/c. I would have removed the smog pump, but I live in California. You might not notice it but every weight reduction counts. I did mine because I wasn't ever going to recharge my a/c and I just like the cleaner, uncluttered look.

I was under the impression that the belt would rub the water pump if you do not use the adapter that moves the power steering up. Therefore you have to either remove the AC/PS/SMOG together or just the SMOG or use an adapter. Is this not true?

When I still had power steering and removed the smog pump I had to use an idler pulley. The whole smog removal took me probably under 15 minutes. There might be a way around using the idler pulley, however I was content with the idler.

A/C is clutched, so the benefit is only from the weight loss. Without Cats there is no need for an air pump, unless you want a crankcase evac system.

you can drop the idler if you get a shorter belt.

and for mr. potato head i think you are right unless you modify the tensioner and flip it so it pushes up instead of down.

those belt sizes are for the ford a/c removal kit that moves the p/s pump up
