But, I knew I felt a drop off in torque with the Street Heat, and unless somebody pursuades me otherwise, I am going to sell this piece of **** and go back to a stock (maybe intake), until I can get a GT40.I can't believe they lost that much torque, and on a 302, I would think that the intake would have more of an effect.

I know you have been having problems w/your trick flow, have you considered the thought of temporarily swapping it out with one from someone elses Stang to help diagnose/locate the issues? Good Luck........

I know a guy who was parting out his engine and I thought about trying on the TFS Street Heat and comparing to my performer. The lower has larger ports than my performer but one look through the TB opening of the TFS and I said hell no. There is this huge chunk of cast right behind the TB opening which has to distort air flow. It was there to support the bolts in the middle of the intake but still. I am no expert but I didn't understand how that could be effecient.

tjm73] ...My plan is plan is a pair of Thumper ported heads (small ports? high flow numbers? can you say wicked port velocity and torque?), and the GT40 Intake with a 65mm throttle body. I have everything else to support it. 24lb injectors, MAF, full exhaust, ignition, B303 cam, etc.....

Sounds like my old combo, except I had a performer intake, and it ran good.

I have a T-Moss lower rite now,Im putting on a set of Thumpers.Would swapping to a GT-40 take away from the low end torque the T-Moss will give me?

In my opinion after owning or working on many of the intakes is the GT40 upper is pretty nice, especially after you remove the humps in the TB tube for the longer bolts. PITA cutting the bolt bosses free and then heating it with a propane torch and massaging the humps out, but I felt a difference on the '93. The GT-40 lower is sludged up with tiny ports and needs a lot of help, including welding up #1 and #5 runners to massage in smoother straighter ports to those cylinders. Also measure the upper individual tube diameter, convert it to area, then port the lower to match that area dimension (-5sp). Made a huge difference and took forever. Turned out to be about 1/8" tighter than the AFR 185 intake ports all the way around.
