Anyone seen any dyno number?

Do you have access to race fuel or maybe some octane booster to mix with the regular gas you get for free? Just a thought....
anyone have a chart to figure out how much 100 octane race gas or NOS octane boost you would need to bump 89 up to 91 or 93 octane...
if its not too much extra money that may be an option to run the supercharger. You get a free tank and maybe add $10-$15 of higher octane suppliment.

oh yeah and about your original question i have seen @ a 50hp gain from heads and cams. I never did put mine on a dyno but when i went from just the plain PI swap to VT st2 heads/comp 262ah cams it was a nice gain...Some VT heads/Cams would definately add a smile to your face. Not as much as some VT heads/ VT blower cams and a KB though....

You should be able to run low octane gas with a blower...just not much timing, and very little boost :D

Why head/cam over vortech??? Nearly the same ammount of money after install (assuming you do vortech install yourself and have shop do head/cam) for half the power seems better...HOW?

Alot of people go with vortech blowers for a reason...they are great!

I have a can of Silkolene that a co-worker gave me and it seems to work fine so far.

I'd just hate to have to buy that crap for the rest of my car's lifetime. That and the fact that the cans are expensive is deterring my decision to go FI.

I do realize that, but FI is a ticking timebomb. With my luck with my "Friday car," the motor would let go a month (or worse) after I installed the SC.

I haven't read many, if any, horror stories about H/C performance unless the cams weren't degreed when installed.

heres my watered down 89 octane turbo car on 6psi with foule driver side plugs
power is possible on 89octane:nice:

Thats a 5.0 right? But turbo>FI hands down. 6PSI from a turbo > 8 PSI from a S/C generally.

Glad to see those are STD #s...SAE would probably had you up in the mid 400s due to elevation :D .

Nice #s though :nice: . Strong car you got there.

Ok I gotta few ? here.
1. Stg 2 cams and heads need to be spun higher in the rpm's to make the increased power right? Like 6500 right? Is it jsut me or does that seem to be when the stock 2v bottom ends start letting go?
2. Wouldn't a H/C swap require a good tune? and Seeing as how most the power is found with playing with the timing and fuel curve wouldn't higher octane need be needed anyway?
3. Why don't you just pay for your gas like the rest of us?

Just my thoughts.

My opinion, if you dont wanna do the 93 octane, leave the car as is. I would CONSTANTLY worry something was going to go wrong if I had a built car and was running it on just 89. Just me though...

Good points.

In reference to point #3, read post #16 above.
