The TwEECer essentially "reflashs" the EEC settings, which the EEC uses those settings to control the car.

The PMS intercepts the signals going into and out of the EEC and changes those signals.

And to add to that, I'm a happy PMS user (as many on this board know) and will always use it for my car.

The tweecer boards have a complete walkthrough, from cleaning the J3 port to tuning...

But IMO, the best companion to have with the tweecer is a wideband. It will eliminate all of your thoughts of (feels like I am rich or lean), etc.

I can't wait to get mine up and rolling...

Awesome! Mike is a good guy and he learns very very quickly, he's almost a pro with the PMS now. I just answered your first question on the board.

Can't wait to see how your new combo works out. Seems you went the same road as me in building a nice NA motor (less headaches). I'm dropping my motor in next weekend, then comes all the wiring etc.

Yea I still have to learn about the Accel stuff to help some cars here in town. For me I don't need it really since I'm not a street car.

Mike your getting there and getting there fast...next thing I know I will be asking you questions!

So with the twEECer, you actually write YOUR OWN program then and write it to the EEPROM?

Umm, what happens if you need the STOCK or FACTORY settings again?

I am wanting 42lb injectors and i have read that i may have to have a twEEcer or that PMS thing. Is that true? Is there a way to work around it to where you dont have to have the tweecer or pms?

Thanks

Im pretty sure you can and if your smart WILL just save your factory settings before you change anything.

In theory ...... you should be able to do that due to the calibration method of ProM or the sample tube method of C&L.

In reality ...... once you go past 24lbs inj's, you can start to have probs at low pulse width conditions like idle and very light throttle conditions like cruise and such. Start up issues can happen as well.

The larger the inj, the more likely the above thing is gonna happen to ya.

So what your sayin is that i would be gambling if i got some 42's and no tweecer or pms.......Right?

Maybe would have problems............Maybe not.......Right?

Reguarding the comment about the 24's, i have 30's now and havent had any start or run problems that i can remember. Maybe i can run 42's.

I am glad i searched this crap cause i was just about to purchase some 42's and a ProM 75.

Thanks.....

For your original question, the PCM uses the twEECer settings instead of it's own. Once you disconnect the twEECer (or just turn it off with the supplied 5-way knob) then it reverts back to the stock tune. It will not overwrite the factory PCM.

I would most definitely get the twEECer if you're gonna run those injectors. I have hot start issues AND low rpm bucking with mine, hence my twEECer (that I'm still figuring out ). It's definitely worth it once you get some serious mods.

Some don't have any probs with 30's and then again, on occasion, some even have probs with 24's.

When it comes to drivability issues, it is just not cut and dry. Each combo can be so different even though they have the same or similar parts.

Maybe i can run 42's.

I would not be very hopeful about running 42's and having no drivability issues without a custom tune.

You want to go for the ProM 80 over the bullet. It is a much more accurate meter and well worth the extra money. Many have had no probs with the bullet maf but then again, there are many who have. It is very rare to see peeps say they had probs with the 80. Why take the chance, go for the proven part and be done with it the first time around for just a few dollars more.

I know next to nothing about these tuners, but is the Tweecer similar to the Superchips SCT tuner in that they perform the similar/same functions, or are they different .Just asking out of curiosity/lack of knowledge on the subject.

IMO that is a prerequisite to having the tweecer, especially for boosted applications

Also, has anyone ever come up with a "gas saving" tune where you possibly shut down like 2 or more injectors and make less power this less gas used?

Now using less gas...that is a facinating idea! Then when you want to run it hard or at the track, change it back!

Just set the rev limiter at 2000....that'll save you some gas!

We'll if you do that AND shut off a few injectors, maybe even enough so you're running a 4-banger and have the injectors come back on at a certain throttle percentage.

I can't believe no one has tried this. The only thing is not only will it have to move dead weight, it will also compress air that won't be used for a power stroke, but still less fuel is less fuel. Anyone have any input?
