Would a set of heads w/ 200cc intake runners be too larger for street use and cause me to lose power?

I have a comp cam in it at the moment w/ stock heads and intake and Im not sure the lift off the top of my head but I'd like to reuse the cam if possible. What would be an ideal cam lift for a set of heads w/ the 200cc?

That chart looks like it would work nicely in the head section of the 94-95 sticky.

I ask again.. WHAT IS THE ENTIRE COMBO. You can't pick a cam without knowing all the rest of the parts.

I think what he might be implying is that he would like to run a set of 200cc heads, but if he did, then he would have to run an unstreetable cam to take advantage of them. If that's what you're asking, then in my opinion, yes. 200cc heads can be set up totally streetable with a good camshaft.

there are lots of good on the shelf and custom cams that will work excellent with a 200cc head. That was an article that was in last years MMFF magazine. I to was debating head size VS Cubic in size even after I pulled the trigger on a set of custom CNC Ported 234cc High Ports on my 351, then that article came out just after and it shed a lot of light on that subject

Yes, thank you kurt and thank you Venom, that is exactly what I was asking. So would anyone happen to know or have a ball park idea on what kind of cam specs I would need? Or do you think that I'd be better off just going with a 180cc or so head?

You're honestly better off running your cam question by a cam expert. Most forum advice on cam selection isn't going to be very good. Not too many people on here have built enough combinations to give an educated choice on what cam to buy. I usually recommend just calling Comp cams and asking simply because they have the highest number of off the shelf camshafts. Venom has like a 234cc head with a streetable camshaft. Most of the cam selection is going to be about what you want to do with the car. Venom had his cam custom ground. Also, different people have a different opinion of what is streetable. I can assure you though, that if you do buy a 200cc head, you can set it up as streetable as you want. What brand of head are you looking at? Rick might have the most experience here, and that is why he is so adamant about asking what combination you want to run with the rest of this. What compression ratio are you going to run, what intake do you want to run? These different items play a huge part in picking a camshaft.

Like Kurt and Rick said it all depends on your combo. My heads are custom and the cam is custom but they should work together fine (when its running again) but every combo is different so w/out info on the rest of the combo its hard to suggest what other parts and even then like kurt said that's more or left up to the experts like at comp cam's or custom cam grinders like Ed Curtis. What I can broadly suggest is that yes you can run a 180-200cc head and still have great street manners but as far as which cam to get that effect your better off to go custom or to call comp or someone such as them and ask what off the shelf cam would work as well.
