Are my chrome rims ruined? New Engand Salt

I don't know how to clean this up. Its like the road salt ate up the chrome on the unside of the rim and where the lug nuts go. Here are the pics:

On this one I tried to use some metal polish put it didn't help exept to get some dirt off.

not too sure, certaintly doesnt look good, but for now its just on the back so its not obvious.. wouldnt say theyre ruined.. just put your stock rims back on for the winter
