i was originally not going to do cams, because i wanted to remain emissions legal, but i feel that im not going to get the power i want just from p&p heads alone. i really dont want to compramise the passing sniffer.

what should i do? also this is a street car, but i want it to be fast.

future plans are the p51 and paxton novi 2000.

what stage heads would you think fit my application? was going to go stang 2 with a stage 1 cam to see if i could get by emissions. what do you guys think, im confusing myself now. :nonono:

I have heard of people passing emisions with the vt stage I and II cams I think. I would think the tune you run would be the biggest factor.

I mean they are not going to fail the visual and the odbII test.

the only way you would fail is if the car litterly failed emisions. I would be 90% postive that stage I cams could be tuned to pass emisions.

yea i was thinking if i upgraded the cams, it would be with stage 1 cams....only thing is i was going to go fox lake and they use comp cams. i dont think i like comp as much as vt cams.

maybe ill just stick to the original plan and just get p&p heads with the pi cams, and see if i can get some kind of gain out of them. some peopl say with just heads i should see 15rwhp. i dont know though if i do this what stage should i go with, i was going to do stage 2 because the car will get a blower in future, but i dont want my lowend suffering a lot. would there be a noticable difference in low end loss between stage1 and 2?

Well vt will work with fox lake heads. same head. I can say if I was swaping cams and already doing the labor I would put in cams. you will have the nice springs and everthing might as well take advantage of them.

If you think you 90% positive on the supercharger make sure you get blower cams.

If I was boosting I would stick with a "stage I" (i hate that term). Basically run a bit milder cam so you have better road manners. with the boost you will make all the power you need. I mean n/a you run a more radical cam to build more power. with a stock shortblock you can make all the power you really want it to see without cams.

I have to say though with the price of heads and cams why don't you just run a more expensive supercharger?

I was going to do what you are doing and then I just decied to run the kene belle 6psi kit. tons of low end power. If you even want more just add the intercooler.

I would think that the 6psi kit, built rear and some launches would get some respectable times.

just food for thought I originally wanted to stay n/a until I talled up the price tag. I like the kene bell kit because you don't need the $1299 p-51 intake.

well i was thinking of just going to the blower as well and skiping the rest, but i would wind up building the engine first anyway. i wanted to replace my heads anyway, i think i have defective heads, im out of warrenty, so i figure just get p&p ones.

like i said i didnt want to do cams, i feel there will just be more problems with them, with tune and everything. however i am starting to think maybe the weakest cam would be ok. i dont know what move to make.

the reason im concerned is that from this point on the choices i make will effect the future mods as well, so im trying to work out some things before i make a choice.
