Get a haynes manual and start testing. And remember, the EGR doesn't work until the car is warm, and only in part throttle. Closed throttle and WOT it will not work, by design.
Another thing to look at is the smog pump. It runs off the acc belt and could be locked up. I haven't found any specific documentation, so I don't really know how to test it, to be honest.
