Auto Meter air fuel guages

Ok, I ordered the rest of my parts I need to put my gas tank back up in my car and to finish out the T5 swap in the next week or two, so I'm starting to get the bug to buy stuff for the car again and I think I want to get an air fuel gauge put in the car and want the Auto Meter 5775, has anyone ever installed one before? Can we use the factory O2 sensors or do I need to order the autometer one?

those type of gauges just piggy back off the stock o2 sensors. they are really just a pretty light show and don't give you any good info. you'd be better off saving a bit more and getting a wideband sensor

Yea just like prokiller said, go with a wideband. They actually give you good info for tuning. Aem and innovate are pretty good. I have a aem wb and it works very well. I got it brand new off of ebay for 150 bux.

The stock O2 location is too hot for WB O2 sensor. I ended up putting in an O/R pipe so I could install the sensor about 15" further down the pipe from the NB bung. They can't go after the cats. I suppose one could remove the first cat and weld a section of pipe in. But if you are maintaining the stock PCM I see no advantage of installing the WB O2's. There's nothing in your sig to indicate that going this route will provide a benefit.

Well the aem uego controller that i have came with a sensor and a bung. so i welded that into my exhaust and screwed the sensor in and plugged it into the guage. It only took me about an hour and a half to install.

Well I plan on putting full h/c/i and a supercharger on the car in the future, and I like to do all the supporting mods beforehand so I don't have extra costs when I get to big projects. I was thinking about getting the phantom 2 that comes with the wideband and adding a bung to my pro-chamber chamber....but that's too far down probably, huh?

And the cat starts at about 1" from the NB O2 bung. Most install recommendations are 24" fom the block and 16" from a turbo. The point is there are exhaust locations where EGT are just too high for the O2 sensor.

All good information above. I used to have an Autometer A/F gauge in my car, and took it out. It doesn't give you any usable information. If anything, it's just annoying.
