autometer guages?

Im looking to add a boost guage, fuel pressure guage, and air/fuel ratio guage to my stang but have a few questions......
Do i need a boost guage that shows vacuum?
Whats the difference in electical and mechanical guages?
Whats the difference in the ultra light series/phantom series/etc?
Which ones work the best for the most reasonable price?

You don't need one that shows Vacuum, it will just help to diagnose vac leaks way easier. I have the C2 boost gauge and it glows a royal blue/deep purple. It looks awesome but expensive $220CDN per gauge. It's electric as well, runs off the wiring harness.

its all in the the autometer website.

but heres a quick rundown:

electirc guages run off a wiring harness. they are usually full sweep, though some a half sweep types. they're safer as the fluid doesnt need to travel into the cabin for the guages to read.

mech. guages need the fluid (oil, water for temp...etc.) to run into the sensor for it to be read. thats why you see cars with the guages on the hood outside, coz they have mech guages and its safer keeping the fluids from the inside. theyre also cheaper.

I had the cobalt series for my RX-7 and theyre one of the higher end ones.

I have the phantom series and love them. Go electrical, like other people say its safer for the cab.

Actually most Autometer electric gauges are 180 sweep, full sweep is available on a few of the electrics but you will pay twice the price for full sweep.

i've also got the phantom series and love how they look. don't waste your money on the a/f gauge tho unless you're going to get a wideband. its just a light show and i regret ever buying it.

Beat me to it. Jeff's spot on, the only electric Autometer gauge I've seen that's even close is the fuel pressure gauge (200 bucks for the Z series!)

Ditto on the A/F gauge.. save the money and get a wideband.

The only mechanical gauge I would ever run inside the passenger compartment is a boost/vac gauge. I'd hate to have to clean up antifreeze, oil, tranny fluid, etc, from my interior because a hose wore out or chafed. Fuel is the absolute most dangerous mechanical gauge if you want it in the interior (obviously.)

You can buy ANY a/f gauge and then add a wideband controller to it later on. That way, you keep the same gauge style.
