Would putting a B cam in my '92 5.0 with an AOD be ok?
I found one for sale cheap locally and Im not sure if it would work with my stock AOD since most sites that sell it list it as 5 speed only.

Getting a good idle out of my E cam and my stock AOD has been a bitch. I would think the B would be worse.

car already has a soft bottom end...add that cam to a stock head AOD car and you will be unhappy with the results. Cam swaps should come AFTER head upgrades...not before if you want to enjoy their potential.

I will be putting heads on the car at the same time the cam goes in. I dont have the heads yet though.

b and aod would not be ideal IMO..higher rpm powerband combined with a soft bottom end of the AOD is sure to make you sluggish on the street. It's certainly your car and your opinion but the B cam is not a favorite grind of mine...certainly not in an AOD car.

Well I definately dont want it to be lousy on the street because I do regular driving with this car more than racing.

I guess Ill look for something else.

A high speed torque converter would help the situation. But personally I wouldnt buy a used cam.

a good torque converter, gears, and advancing the cam 4 degrees is about the only way that cam would be streetable, to me anyway. i bought a used crane 2020 for my aod car because it has a fat torque curve from 2200 to 5200 rpms.

A torque converter is on my wish list but theres other things I need to get first.
I already have 4.10 gears and just havent gotten around to playing with the timing.
I shift the car at 5500 when racing so Id need something that is good up to atleast that rpm.

Keep the stock cam and put on a GT-40 or Cobra intake with 1.7 RR's!! It will be good till that RPM and would give you more power then just a cam swap!

Ive already got an Edelbrock Performer intake on the car though.

I wouldnt just be doing a cam swap. I will be doing a head swap at the same time.

b303 with aod

I swapped out the stock cam for the b303. It runs fine, but the stock aod just sucks. The cam has good mid to upper power but the torque isn't that great and I have the 3.73s. I plan on the t-5 swap.

A high speed stall will throw you in the power band alot faster making your aod not so sucky!

It was said above... higher stall ( 2200-2400 ) and ADVANCE the B cam 4* and it will work killer!!
