I'm running the original cam right now, but want the lope and to squeeze out some more power. I was planning the TFS Stage 1 cam, but I don't really want to go to 1.6 rockers. I already have FMS 1.7 rockers and can't justify the move financially. Not sure what other cam would work.

Please, recommend away.

The B cam is way, way outdated, the TW cam is way better, but like Grn92LX said you need a 1.7 ratio specific cam for best results and new valve springs are a no-brainer. Also, what heads, intake, headers are on your car? Putting a bigger cam in aint gonna do much if any of the above are lacking.

Ive got tw heads, 1.7 rockers, and pushrods to run the stage one cam. Its the tfs cam that ends in 0000's I think.......thats the cam I was going to run with my tw heads and 1.7's but now im going for a custom grind.

I agree, i have the B cam, its great but a split duration cam like the TFS stage 1 cam is a much better choice, plus it has more lift, and more lift = more torque without changing the powerband.......

Thanks guys! I've been in this game long enough to know all my options at one time and now I'm out of the loop, though I still bleed Ford blue. I started losing interest 4 years ago, but I can't bring myself to sell 'er. (second mustang, bought this one in '96)

Anyways, I almost think they are 1.72 rockers? They are blue FMS, and were expensive. I also have GT40 intake with a ported lower...and the heads were lightly ported. There's about 35K on the heads. The springs are original with 40K on them. Refresh my memory: they fatigue much quicker with that much lift and/or they should have been changed to a stiffer spring??

I remember calling Trick Flow and they said I would have to change to 1.6 rr's. If I could use my 1.7(2?) rockers, the stage 1 would be my 1st choice.

Im sure trickflow probably has a better understanding than me. I havent run this setup but bought the heads from a guy who was. i was worried about pvc and he said he had NO problems what so ever. he said he called tfs to see about running the tfs stage 2 or 3 with the 1.7 and they said that with 1.7's he would have to stick to the stage 1. These are also tfs 1.7 rockers, not ford.........there are equations to figure out your lift, etc, to get a more accurate guess. Good luck

I currently have a 306 w/tfs heads 1.7 rockers and a trickflow stage 1 cam. I used to have the B-cam and it was better mid to top end than the tfs. The tfs kinda sucks I would not reccomend stage 1, go with an anderson fms cam, thats what i am looking at next.

LOVE my xe270hr-12 comp cam...idles better than any Alphabet cam in terms of sound, the computer seems to like it too as I have had no surge stall issues, and the power band is STRONG from just over 2000-6000clean.
