B&m hammer shifter c4 question

anyone using a B&M Hammer shifter with a C4? I’ve got the shifter and adapter installed, but the adjusters have to be turned all the way out just to get the swivel to slide into the transmission arm in 1st gear. When I shift into Park to check the adjustment, the linkage doesn’t move in and out of the arm smoothly—it takes a fair amount of force and some sideways pressure. Has anyone run into this or have any suggestions on what I should do?

Did the instructions say which gear to have the trans in when first installing the swivel? It has been many years but it seems to me that I used neutral on my C-4.

The instructions say do the initial install in 1st gear then shift into park to make sure it still slides in and out freely

Well if it bothers you, maybe a call to B&Ms tech dept and ask?

Doesn’t bother me, I’m just trying to see if that is normal. I don’t want to burn up a fresh rebuilt trans
