As I posted a few days ago, I ordered some brakes from buyfordracing.com, and some full length subframe connectors from Maximum Motorsports. The buyfordracing deal fell through, but the subframes arrived at my door yesterday! I had my local muffler guy all lined up to weld them on for me today... I figured he could handle the job, as he did great on my flowmaster setup. We get the car up on the lift to find that my subframes are all dented up and dimpled from jackstand use from the previous owner. I guess I never looked at it, as I usually jack the car up by the k-member and put the stands under the control arms (this may not be too smart either, I dont know). Basically my muffler guy admitted that I would need a good weld job with a little more fab work than he could do (flat plates on each side) to get them good and sturdy. I really appreciated his honesty, but Im bummed that they arent going on this afternoon... He suggested a couple old friends of his, but they have since moved location and are a little bit out of the way... I actually ended up finding a guy in the phone book about 10 minutes from my house that builds engines, does frame and body fab work, and owns a '95 GT that has subframes and a roll cage installed by himself.
He is going to be my new best friend! This isnt really a good discussion thread, but I had to share my new found excitement! Who knew these useful guys existed in Iowa? What's next, a mustang dyno down the street?!
