Ball joints???

I have squeaky ball joints.
What do you all recomend?
I have prices on TRW ball joints. $75 canadian each.
The car is NOT lowered and everything is stock except the exhaust.

steeda x2 balljoints=teh win.....i wish i had the time when mine broke to order em but i needed teh car so i got em done at a shop......get teh steedas

Same here I just installed the steeda ball joints and they look huge compared to the stock ones and without the spring spacers they drop your front a 1/2"

in the mean time if you want to get rid of the squiking jack up the car by the crip points or something just not the a-arms u need the front suspension to get loose and let the arm have no tension on it and then grease it up alot. it will get grease under the ball inside the cup and the squik will go away.

Not sure for SN's, but on foxes, one can get new Ford Racing arms, loaded with joints and new bushings, for under 200 beans (U.S.). WHen comparing new parts and machine labor, it can be quite a decent deal. But like I said, I dont know if SN's get the same sort of pricing.

Otherwise, one can rent/loan a ball joint press from the parts store and press old out and new ones in. I am not a huge fan of this, as the boss in the arms tends to widen over time (why some new joints are wider in diameter than stock - to fill this void).

Yea you can get new a-arms for sn's for about $180 from I think ford motorsports with the ball joints included, if you change them yourself, I can sell you mine its brand new only used once a week ago and Ill sell it to you for $40 compared to shops they wanted to charge me $100 from one and $175 from another for labor alone with the a-arms off the car. Took me 1/2 hour once I figured out how to use the damn press.

Are you sure it is the ball joints that are squeeking? My car would squeek over every little bump and when I turned the wheel back and forth. Turned out to be the tie rod end. Much easier to replace that a ball joint too.

You are so right. I took my car to work and jacked it up. It turns out to be the tie rod ends. I replaced the right side thinking that would fix it. It fixed part of the problem. The other side are wore out also. MAN WHY CAN"T I GET A BREAK!!!!!
So I got the left side ordered from ford and it will be here tomorrow. Should i get a wheel alignment too?

I also bought a throw out bearing and retainer to stop the squeaks under the car. Any advice for this one????? Should I grease up the reatainer shaft or the tranny input shaft?

getting an alignment after replacing tie rods is not an option, it must be done and your driving should be extrememly limited before you get it lined up. when i do tie rods at work i drive it from my rack to the alignment lift and no more. i cannot stress this enough. even though you matched the threads i garauntee your toe is out, which could lead to serious tire damage. also a good a idea to replace both inner and outers while you are there.

Quick question, Steeda's bumpsteer kit replaces the outers only, right? Any suggestions on inners? just oem replacements?

all the bump steer kits i have seen include the outers only. as far as inners, this is the only time i will ever endorse the autozones of the world, but carquest sells replacement suspension parts made by moog which i consider to be of high quality.

I have the same problem as you, (constant squeaking/squealing from wheels when turning, and the same noise over bumps) how can i decide what its comming from? if its the tie rod ends, im just going to get the bumpsteer kit.

I'm having the same squeeking over bumps/when I turn the wheel problem. It's LOUD and is getting worse. I had assume it was the ball joint, but now I'll look at the tie rod ends as well....in general, will a ball joint create these symptoms? Was I wrong in assuming it was the ball joint?

I also thought it was the ball joint until i went under the car and got someone to turn the wheel. I held the tie rod end together and the squeak went away. i also tried this on the ball joints holding them. there was no real play in the tires so i went with the tie rod ends and now its fixed. The car track real good but i did boo an appointment for thi coming friday for an alignment.

Ball joints???
