BBK's W.G.'s are extremely fair. In fact, we probably offer the best warranty out there on performance parts.

Let me drop some links to the W.G.'s listed on the websites of the biggest names in the biz.

When reading these, remember that BBK offers a 1 year manufacturer's warranty AND we are offering to pay for the pick up of your "defective" pipe and the delivery of a new pipe.

Edelbrock-
http://www.edelbrockwarranty.com/
Except they say you have to pay for the shipping both ways.

K&N (except they call it "1 million miles")
http://www.knfilters.com/warrnty.htm
Except they also say you have to pay for the shipping both ways.

Roush.
http://store.roushperformance.com/LimitedWarranty.pdf

How about Ford Racing Parts?
http://www.fordracingparts.com/announcements/news47.asp
NO WARRANTY on parts. They do offer a warranty on some of the crate motors and dealer installed parts but pipes and the like are NO WARRANTY.

Oh look, you're going off on an irrelevant tangent to try and take the spotlight off your terrible treatment of a customer again.

All we need to see posted from you is that you're going to do the right thing and give me my money. No more of this run around bs.

Irrelevant?

That last post has everything to do with warranty (which is what you are dealing with).

As I've said from the beginning, you are asking for something that does not exist.

Those links clearly prove that we offer a very fair warranty policy that goes above and beyond the "norm" for the aftermarket performance parts industry.

Anyone who reads them will have no doubt that this is true.

Alright - this thread really needs to get locked. It's going nowhere.

- Loco 5.0 buys a BBK catted H-pipe. The H-pipe did not fit the car. However, Loco 5.0 modified the h-pipe by welding the air tube shut, so nobody is willing to take the h-pipe back because it has been modified.

- BBK wants to "stand by their policies" and not make an exception on this. They COULD cut a check upon the return of the H-pipe, but they choose not to. The only thing they are willing to do is exchange it, only IF they determine it's a manufacturer defect.

Loco 5.0 - Unfortunately, I think you are screwed. Because you modified the pipe, BBK technically doesn't have to take care of you. I agree with your frustration though...if they took it back and realized that it was distorted from teh factory, they COULD cut you a check. They choose not to.

BBK is screwed to, in a way. Everybody who has visited 5.0 tech has seen this, and people will think twice about buying their products in teh future. This thread alone has proven that a number of people have had similar problems.

Sucks to be both of you, I guess

Aaron-

This really has nothing to do with the pipe being modified.

It also has nothing to do with O.P.'s attitude.

Warranties are not handled on a case-by-case basis.

Just like everyone else in the industry (see links) we offer to repair or replace the part for anyone who is compliant to the W.G.'s. regardless if they are nice, or start a flame thread on the internet/picket our office/ rent a billboard that says "BBK suck", or whatever they chose to do out of self inflicted frustration.

Unlike ANYONE else in the industry, we are offering to go above and beyond to send a call-tag out for the part (shipping costs money, and X-pipes ain't cheap to ship due to the size of the box) and pay for the new pipe to get there.

All of the other companies state that the user will need to pay for shipping both ways (prepaid) to get parts warrantied.

Nobody else in the industry does that.

That being said (again), how is it that BBK "does not want to take care" of the customer? Because we won't go against policy for this one case?

The chances of BBK cutting O.P. a check for this are about as good as you cutting O.P. a check for this.

My point was that if he didn't weld the air tube shut, he probably could have returned it to the place of purchase for a refund...

FWIW, More than once, I have purchased BBK shorty headers. In fact, bought them again for the car I currently own. Never had a problem and never even had a gasket blow out. They fit perfectly. In the future, I plan on buying more BBK products because of my favorable impression of them. That being said, if I did have a problem, I would be attempting to return them to the dealer I purchased them from, not the manufacturer. When I battled my pypes catted x pipe, they offered for me to either return it to the dealer I purchased it from, or exchange it with them. Sounds the same as what you got.

Bryan, why not just tell the vendor to take back the pipe, have them refund the purchase price to loco, then refund the vendor whatever they payed you?

Regardless of who's fault this is, this thread is not good publicity for BBK.

I had a similar issue with a certain tire company. They physically called the vendor, told them to take them back.
Would i use kuhmo tires again? No, but i didn't feel the need either to make a big internet post on how they suck because i got my money back to buy different tires. Had they of not given the money back, i would of made my best effort to damage their rep, similar to how loco is doing it.
Sometimes it's just about damage control.

Bassani or magnaflow ftw.

2000xp8, in doing that, he would be rewarding internet vigilantism. The op has pretty much backed Bryan into a corner so that he can do nothing. BTW, I wonder what kind of pipe the OP has on his car now(since he no longer wants the BBK one).

Possibly.

At the very least those who care to read this all the way through will know that BBK offers a very generous warranty in comparison to the rest of the industry.

Even if O.P. doesn't want to take it for what it's worth.

Good suggestion!

As for strtrcr50'suggestion about "rewarding internet vigilantism", I don't think that this has anything to do with rewarding ANY practice. BBK is getting a bad rap because of this thread, and Bryan keeps stating that they can't go against policy.

Yup - BBK will stand firm with "policy" and they will win this particular case. However, a lot of potential consumers will now be leary of buying BBK products because of this thread. Hmmm - wonder who got hurt the worst?

The bolded statement is Internet vigilantism at its finest.

I really fail to see how Kuhmo getting your money back helped them. You are still bad mouthing them. Had they stuck to their policies, you'd still be posting negatively about them. Just like you are in this thread about BBK.

BBK's policies are out there. People should do research before they buy. This customer has turned to e-thugging to try to violate BBK's policies and get his money back from the company he DIDN"T purchase his pipe from. He puchased a pipe. It didn't fit. BBK is willing to make it fit properly. Customer is only happy if he gets his money back(Why is that? He should still need a pipe unless he had buyers remorse or just needed to get through inspections) When I had this problem with pypes, there was no offer to refund my money through pypes. Ultimately, I bought a catback from them just so I could get something on the car. I am happy with them, but it was a nightmare.
All said and done, I'll still purchase BBK products(pypes also) and most of you will too. As far as customers being leary, I doubt it. How many reports of things from China killing people does it take before you guys stop buying professional products parts?
That being said, continue on with the e-lynching.

The bottom line is people read this thread and will be leary. BBK can stick to it's policies as much as they want. I can't tell them any different...
I was a little sour on the H-Pipe I bought when mine didn't properly fit either, and the heat shield started rattling after only a few thousand miles. But I took it as bad luck. Then this thread came out. I now see that others have had similar experiences, and few people have backed BBK up. When I see more unhappy people versus happy people, I become leary of their products.
I am not telling anyone to buy or not buy BBK products. I personally don't care WHAT others buy. I only care about what I buy, and I know what I won't be buying in the future.

I understand what you are saying. I'm not backing up BBK. I don't have their xpipe, h pipe, or catback. However, they are following their policies. It is what it is.

You can't be serious. I posted the facts of my issue w/BBK. I did not make things up, I did not come here chanting "don't buy BBK" & I did not use profanity as every other word.

I did not start a random thread just to "bad mouth" a company.

You didn't start off that way. However, you give BBK no where to go. You know they can't give you your money back. I'm starting to think that NONE of the aftermarket x/h pipes fit right.
