i recently purchased a black bbk strut tower brace for my 88 hatchback.the problem is that when i put the bar on it is only mm's away from my distributor and it's so close to my oil cap that it can't be completely removed.it's so close to the dis. cap that you would have to remove the brace to get the cap off.it does go around my typhoon intake very nicely though.any suggestions?

I had a MAC STB and I now have a MM STB and neither STB was anywhere near that close to dist, or oil cap from what you’re saying.
You have checked to make sure you were sent the right STB?
Personally I don't think I'd install the STB you have if for no other reason than every time you want to do an oil change or add oil you might need to remove the STB.

i bought the bar from cj's pony parts at the carlisle show last weekend.i'm not going to install it until i find out whats going on.the car was originally a 4 cyl car that somebody had started putting a v-8 in it.they got the motor and tranny in it then quit.i've spent the last year changing the suspension, brakes, fuel lines and wiring.i was wondering if somebody had put the wrong frame mounts on the car because if the motor sat lower it would clear everything fine.any suggestions?

when i put it on, the back of my brace lines up with the hole in the brace for the hose to run into the firewall so i'm assuming the brace isn't to high in the back.i can raise the brace in front to clear everything put then the brace doesn't sit down on the strut towers and i don't really want to shim the brace up as i don't feel it will be as effective.
