Beeping Noise?

When I start up my 95, theres a beeping noise under my passenger side dash. It stops after a while. Then while driving along it does it randomly. Making me crazy.
Anyone know what that is? Its annoying. I have my seat belt on if that matters and no warning lights.

Likely your airbag light in the dash is burned out or removed.

Oh wonderful. This cars making me crazy.
If I can find the beeper noise I'm going to unplug it for now.
I'll be pulling my cluster soon the odometer don't work. Probably those little gears. I'll check the bulbs while I'm in there.
Never had an airbag light if that is it. Does that mean the airbag needs replaced or something if the light is technically on?

The airbag light will flash out a code for you telling you what's wrong, once you get a bulb in there.

It doesn't necessarily mean there's something else wrong -- the airbag module detects that the bulb is out and beeps, a failsafe for when that happens to let you know that at least the bulb missing is wrong.

Usually those lights don't burn out in my experience -- someone typically pulls the bulb because something else was wrong. In that case, unplugging the module is a better idea because of that endless beeping. Once you get a bulb in there, count flashes and run through the diagnostics on that link and you'll be able to get things working again. Sometimes it's just a fuse or a near-dead battery that throws a code and requires it to be cleared (how to do that is there too at the link). Or it could be a bad module / bad airbag / bad wiring / etc., but hopefully it's easy.

Thank you very much. I will try and find the annoying beeper and unplug it just for about two weeks. Until I remove the cluster for the odometer repair.
I think they might be 194 bulbs. I was going to replace all of them while I have it open.

Check the fuse! I unplugged my fuse for airbags to plug into the odometer lights fuse and that dam thing beeps every time I start the car. Also for the Odometer lights you can check out getting LED lights for them. I picked up a 20 pack of purples on EBay(que ebay jokes lol) for $15 about 6 months ago and I haven't had any issues with them

Thanks!!!This is sad I need to see where my fuses are.. I have been doing so much other stuff to the car. Is it a normal fuse for the airbag?
I would not mind changing the colors

This fuse box is under the driver side dash. Big ugly looking box lol. Its a 10amp normal size fuse

Its number 4. Airbag System.

Okay I finally got to look this problem over. I was finishing up other stuff first.

Also I forgot to note. The front end was hit on this car and repaired before I bought it. That probably caused and air bag issue....but anyhow.

I checked the fuses, they are all fine. Theres a LOT of 30 amp fuses in my box??? Ugh!!

Anyhow, I used a stethescope and found the beeping blue box, the blue one behind the console.

I unplugged the two plugs in it, and the CEL stayed on when I started the car.

I scanned it, and it came up throttle positioning sensor. Quite odd! I don't have a CEL normally, and didn't have that code before. I cleared it with my scanner since this car does not have that issue normally.

Anyhow, I plugged the two plugs back in, and took the car for a ride. Light stayed out as usual, and the beeping is still there.

I thought unplugging the blue box would help the beeping stop.. Don't know why unplugging it caused a TPS code. Very odd. But the light is out now, and never came back on.

Here's a photo of the blue box thats beeping. I was hoping unplugging the two plugs would stop it from beeping. It may have, but the CEL comes on with a TPS code.

Is the impact sensor (or whatever the techie word is) mounted in front behind the grill opening? I don't know if they need to be changed after a wreck.

Alright from what I found its called a "airbag control box or airbag control module".

There should be a series of flashing from the airbag light that'll tell you what it is triggering it to beep. Also read that you can disconnect it to stop the beeping but you can't sell it like that it some states.

If it is the impact sensors/airbag sensors than goto this link and it'll tell you where the sensors are so they can be replaced.

My airbag light is not on, but that doesn't mean someone didn't remove it
I'm gonna have to pull that cluster and check it.
When I do unplug the blue control module box, my check engine light comes on and throws the throttle positioning sensor code. I can't figure that one out.
So I just plugged it back in and cleared the code.
I'll check that link shortly. I really didn't care too much about the airbag but was hoping to stop the noise it's making me crazy.

What puzzles me is disonnecting the blue box sets off a code for TPS? I cleared it back out. But that is odd.

You found the right module to disconnect (light blue with that two-bolt metal bracket), like you I have absolutely no idea why that would set a TPS code. The only even remote possibility I can think of is that your body grounds aren't in good shape, and that the ECU was borrowing some ground circuity from the Airbag connection. Try running a ground wire to that bracket (from battery) and see if that lets you disconnect without a TPS code.

You'll have a better time determining what to replace (sensor, bags, etc.) if you get that dash bulb situation sorted out so you can get the actual code, so it's probably early to be troubleshooting sensors. You can also pick your poison and determine if the bright light in the dash or the beeping is worse. I find the beeping worse -- hopefully addressing the ground situation will allow you to temporarily disconnect the module until you can get the rest of the system sorted..

There's also the remote possibility that you set the TPS code without having anything to do with the airbag. Legit causes are a bad TPS, low voltage / poor ground at the TPS, or holding your foot on the gas when starting.

I will try the ground wire tomorrow from the blue module bracket to the battery. And see what it does when unplugged again.
If that doesn't set off a TPS code then I'll ground that bracket for now.

I ordered my odometer gears, so if that bulb is missing I'll replace it while it's out. If the bulb lights up I swear I'll probably paint it black..lol

I appreciate the help greatly it's a nice running car. But I think with an R title and stupidity I should have bought a different Stang. But I must work with what I have. I'm just not very good with computer stuff. I never had a TPS code before so it truly stumped me.

You Sir... Are Good! I don't know how you figured that out.
I loosened one of those green bolts on the bracket and ran a wire from there to the battery negative.

Disconnected the plugs on the module. Taped them closed on the plugs because I'm paranoid.

No more beeping and the check engine light did not come that time.
Before it threw a TPS code soon as I started the car. I even took it for about a 3 mile ride but no code.
I can't thank you enough, that got me out of another hardcore repair for now.
I knew something was odd I never had a code for except when I bought the car. That was a cam sensor, fixed it, cleared the code and never had an issue again. That's why the caught me offguard so badly.

I have to look at this fuse box though. They got a Ton of 30 amp fuses and I cannot figure out why. Or maybe I should just leave them alone I don't know. But the airbag one number 4 has a 10 amp in it there. just a bunch of 30,a in the rest for some reason.
But everything does function properly and I'm having no other issues. I just need to fix my stupid odometer gears

Glad to hear it, congratulations! That beeping is maddening. I've restored a few old cars over the last few years and it's always surprising how the electricity finds its way back to ground through any circuit it can find if it can't find the right way. Step on the brake and light up the turn-signal lights on the dash is really common on the old cars when the bulb socket grounds rust away.

When you get around to fully fixing it, we can help you with that too. It's not as complicated as it seems. The bad ground was likely causing some other problems too -- so the previous owner might have picked up a bulk pack of fuses and just changed them all. So you might well have fixed more than just the TPS problem by running that wire, and it never hurts to have extra ground at the dash. Ideally you'd change the fuses back to their proper ones eventually, though the 30a will probably protect you pretty well from most short circuits at least for the short term (I doubt your car will catch fire if something blows a fuse - if it can run 20A it can usually handle 30).

I must admit you are good. I did what you said and was amazed you figured that out just from my post.

I might find a place to ground the dash when replacing the odometer gears and also check to see if the engine needs a better ground. I have not looked hardcore yet, but I don't see an engine ground. But it may be there and I'm not seeing it.

Those 30 amp fuses bother me. Like sticking a penny in an old fashioned fuse box in a house... lol

I was going to throw all the stock sizes in and see what happens. But trying to not disable the car right now. I need it on the road until my other cars done.

The CEL is back....ugh....

I did ground the bracket for the blue air bag module and unplugged and cleared the tps code that it threw right away when i did that.
No beeping was nice but the CEL came back on.
Tps again. So i plugged the blue module box back in. And cleared the code.

Was fine for about a week i just deal with the beeping.

But the CEL just came on today while my wife drove to work.

My wife said it was searching for an idle after she restarted it after a few hours. Ran a bit rough, then when put in drive it smoothed out. Then the car ran fine. She just got home, I came up with this on my scanner.
