Beers Of Stangnet

@Davedacarpainter
After a very, very long day, I got a good chuckle out of that. That's about the only good thing about this state.

Well, that, and the lack of diesel emissions testing.

Tonight's beer of choice, Great Lake's Conway Irish Ale. Very smooth, malty, earthy, with hints of caramel. I've never had this before and I'm liking it. Nothing spectacular, but definitely a very drinkable and likeable beer.

I’ve always liked red ales.

When my youngest were still little we would do the “Tulsa Run”. A small 5k run in downtown tulsa. I call it a run, but for my daughter it was a 5k talk to all of the other little girls walk!

Anywho, at the end of the run different venders would set up with their various goods. There was always a beer vender there! I spent a lot of time with that particular one while my daughter was chatting. Their red ale always made the effort of taking the kids to this event special........ok, time with the kids was pretty cool too:zombie:

We do have other Great Lakes Brews around here, I'll have to look for the Irish Ale! :)

Another dinner party last night, another refill of the fridge from the guests...one guy brought a Shock Top Citrus sampler 12-pack and another brought a 6-pack of Cold Snap.

I haven't tried the Ruby Fresh Grapefruit one yet. I'm just trying the Sunset Orange now and it's pretty similar to the Inner Beauty (which is made from the Ugli Fruit...which is a grapefruit/orange/tangerine hybrid fruit apparently). Both of those were fairly refreshing actually. Also had the Belgian White and that was good too. Fairly certain these beers would be best on a hot summer day. Except for @Ronin38.... ;)

I'm trying the Ruby Fresh Grapefruit now and its pretty similar to the other 2 citrus brews in the sampler. The three really aren't too far off from each other, IMO. They lean a little more towards the sweeter side than tart, which isn't too bad. The citrus flavor is fairly pronounced in each one but not terribly overwhelming. I remember trying a blueberry beer one time that was just *way* too sweet...it tasted more like sugar. I couldn't even get halfway through that bottle.

Tonight...

Saw that the spring seasonal from Dominion is now available. This has always been a favorite of mine...a few years ago, the Ram's Head chain of taverns/bars around here started offering this on tap and then it started showing up in bottles.

It's similar in flavor to Sam Adams' Cherry Wheat, only lighter (since it's a lager and not a wheat) and the cherry flavor is much more subtle.

Wye Rye from Calvert Brewing. Calvert is the next county south of the county I live in and they've got a few offerings available at the local liquor store. I thought I'd give this one a try...it's a nice amber color with subtle spice and caramel flavors. I'm liking it so far.

Over the weekend I acquired a 6-pack of Cold Snap, a 12-pack of Killian's and a 12-pack of Heavy Seas Sampler. That was in addition to the 6-pack of Flying Dog's Lucky SOB, another 6-pack of Killian's, and a 4-pack of Guinness cans that I already had! Fridge is full and will be for a while!

Unless y'all wanna come by and help clean me out... :D
