Beers Of Stangnet

I picked up some SA Summer Ale earlier this week so I had that on hand.

Tonight I saw this at the local store:

Mountain Girl hefeweizen by Union Brewing here in Baltimore. It's pretty good; it's got a mild translucency to it so not quite as cloudy as some other hefs...I was kinda on the fence about the price though; $10 for a 4-pack, but they are 16 oz cans.

Yeah, I thought so too...there's been one or two others that I've had in the past that had similar clarities to them. I even swirled the can a good bit to see if it would stir up any yeasts, but apparently not.

I bought something new!

There’s a local brewer called Marshall here. He made a barley wine (my favoritist style).

It’s only 9.2 abv. Only meaning only by barley wine standards.

Most excellent brew. Mmm. Mmm. Mmm.

This is a local brewery that sold out to Anheiser Busch....... still good stuff though. Anyone see Blue Point in other parts of the country?
Went to a cask festival at their brewery a few weeks ago. Lots of good stuff from all over the northeast.

Latest find for me. It's another Eviltwin Brewery stout.

Eviltwin is a Connecticut brewery, so you guys up there should know about these brews.

I've really enjoyed the various forms of stout they have. This one at 9.0abv is the lightest offering I've sampled from them.

In the end, a good stout, nothing remarkable to note though. If you want a stout and this is given to you, you'll drink it and not feel like you have to.

Evil Twin isn't a Connecticut brewery. In fact they weren't even a brewery until January this year when they opened a brick and mortar in New York.. Jeppe started out as a gypsy brewer some time ago contract brewing at breweries around the world. If the beer you're drinking says that it's brewed in Connecticut, then it's brewed by another brewery for the Evil Twin brand.

Also of note, Jeppe's twin brother Mikkel started gypsy brewing first under the name Mikkeller.

That’s pretty interesting. I’ve really enjoyed their stouts.

Brought home some Great Lakes Brewing Elliot Ness Porter. Higher priced six pack, but good stuff! :)
I was amazed when we went to Longhorn Steakhouse last week and they actually had this on tap! I've been telling them for YEARS that they needed a darker beer on tap to go with steaks! They always seem to have Blue Moon and other crap... I mean, "lighter" beers, and those just do NOT pair well with STEAK!

I've seen Blue Point down here in MD. Mainly their Toasted Lager, which I enjoyed.
